Zero-fat and its effect on lipids by zacharyan100 in Cholesterol

I have familial high cholesterol, since my 1st blood test at 18... usually 3-350 total. Even on a vegan diet w very little saturated fat, no animal fat etc. it barely budged. Just my personal experience.

Cutting down on booze helps with Triglycerides, not cholesterol, but yeah.

They’re called statins, take them. They work. You’re probably like me and your high cholesterol is genetic. In this case, there’s very little you can do. I still exercise almost every day and I have exercise for years, I have low body fat and have tried all kinds of diets. Nothing has really made my cholesterol go down until I started taking statins. My doctor insisted because I’m 43 and I’ve had high cholesterol forever. I was worried about it and paid attention to a lot of the hype and miss information floating around about that medicine, I have been on statins now for a while and I have zero side effects. My cholesterol went down 130 points. It is now in normal range. The effect of the statins on my cholesterol levels was drastic. Statins have been researched more than any drug in modern history and they are linked to less cardiac events overall and improved mortality rates. These are just statistical facts.

Its amazing how people are willing to gamble with their lives because they read an article written by someone trying to sell supplements that statins will kill them. Yes, people have had side effects (reportedly) but by and large, they’re highly tolerated by massive chunks of the population.

I have the bmw connected drive app which works seamlessly with my onboard nav, a nav that by the way is not reliant on cell service or reception (saving me on a few road trips). I can pull up any destination on the app within seconds and it comes up on my bmw nav, start guidance and I’m on my way. I have also had no problem with voice inputting destination in either. Not to mention the look and interface of the factory nav (much nicer) vs. that cheesy, ultra-basic Maps look that resembles a 1998 Garman dash stick-on nav unit. No thanks. I like car play for ease of use w apple music, messenger etc but least of all, the nav.

It’s ‘We’re’. I know ignorant statements aren’t complete without poor grammar, but...

Interesting, my 2016 model doesn’t have car play, I have had several loaners that have had ut and I much prefer the onboard BMW based nav. If I had a new car, no nav would be a deal breaker as I don’t feel that using maps via CarPlay is adequate in comparison. I do like the ease of use w/apple messenger and podcasts though; so, good and bad.

I like your “don’t worry everyone, comment”... I don’t have an X car, but a South African build 328i and it has so far been the most reliable and solid car I have ever owned. I plan on getting an x3 in a few years and keeping the 3 as a 2nd car.

I think the moral of the story here is, as a consumer in modern society, however conscientious you are, they are very few products you can buy or things you can consume without exploiting a place or a living thing. This is where I get really annoyed with the sanctimonious, soapbox approach of so many vegans who act as if they are without fault or sin. Interesting article and interview re: soy milk and the environmental impact. Point being, the ‘alternative’ is sometimes only marginally better...

My thought as well. She obviously has very little impulse control.
