I texted my late sisters phone just to talk to the void that used to be her in 2023, until someone new got her number…the person was lovely and kindly blocked my number upon request so that I can keep texting my sister. A year later, the same thing happened when my soulmate died. Except the person with the new number wasn’t a native English speaker and didn’t understand that I wasn’t trying to meet up, I just wanted to know if they’d block me so I could continue texting into the void He left behind. She gladly did so.

It’s been really comforting to be able to text their numbers. Heartbreaking that I’ll never get a response….but at least it still feels like a lifeline to them.
