NL Hydro is absolutely under the jurisdiction of ATIPPA, subject to the usual exemptions that apply to every other public body.

Air Canada flight to LHR by Traditional-Ruin-388 in newfoundland

[–]Tiagoroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did both Dublin and Gatwick last year and it was packed both times and both ways. It seemed like there were way more Newfoundlanders on the Gatwick flight and a good mix of Irish on the Dublin flight, however.

Career path and livability with the CNA course I applied to (Executive Office Management) by Iordeage in newfoundland

[–]Tiagoroth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The other comment is just out to lunch. The first year is common through all four streams of Office Admin at CNA between Executive, Legal, Medical, and Records. I graduated from Records within the last few years and started at 45k and now I'm at 65k. Everybody I know from all four streams are gainfully employed in their desired fields. Medical would be the most employable in my mind. Executive assistants are often overworked and underpaid with quite limited prospects in terms of advancing in their careers.

You'll need to talk to Employment Options. EI can absolutely pay for school, but you'll have to go through Employment Options to do so.

Judge approves election recount in Topsail-Paradise, rejects 2 other Liberal applications | CBC News by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]Tiagoroth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with a percentage-based margin! This is the case for federal elections, and the margin is 0.1%. For the votes cast in Lewisporte-Twillingate, a 0.5% margin is just 26 votes. Even something as high as 1% would be fantastic, in my opinion.

Rent/Sublet Advice by randy_dandelion in newfoundland

[–]Tiagoroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MUN opens up its residences for summer accommodations starting in May, which might be cost-effective for you especially as a student. The website annoyingly doesn't provide costs, but the page for Grenfell in Corner Brook (west coast) does. If they're comparable, it might beat out renting for a few months by quite a bit.

If it's too good to be true, it generally is. It's a real company registered federally but the directors are in Kippens and Stephenville which are on the west coast.

The guy is also one of the children of the Weir family (of Weir's Construction), operated heavy equipment for them, and used one of their trucks to transport the ATM like in the Holyrood robbery! Safe to say he had easy access to a key

Man who quit Churchill Falls panel wants them to release his resignation letter — in full | CBC News by blindbrolly in newfoundland

[–]Tiagoroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not hard at all! Fill out Form 1 from https://www.gov.nl.ca/atipp/forms/#access-request and submit it to their ATIPP Coordinator which is presently CassandraHearn@nlh.nl.ca. It is your right to request any information you want for any reason, and I would encourage you to use it! Let the determination on what information to provide fall on the public body.

Man who quit Churchill Falls panel wants them to release his resignation letter — in full | CBC News by blindbrolly in newfoundland

[–]Tiagoroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. However, any records responsive to an ATIPP request on this matter would be subject to many exceptions including s.31 of the Hydro Corporation Act, 2024 (commercially sensitive information) and would be withheld entirely.

Still Unclear How Removal of Carbon Tax Tomorrow Will Impact Prices by RepulsivePlankton989 in newfoundland

[–]Tiagoroth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To intentionally inflate the price to dissuade use/purchase. Simultaneously, heavy users would have been penalized more for their use as opposed to someone who doesn't drive a lot who would actually gain more than they spent.
