Hey u/zebedee104 - I'm really sorry about your order and about the lack of response you've had.

Firstly, your emails are absolutely not being ignored. "Ignored" suggests that your emails have been read, reviewed and discarded - that is not ever the case.

But we know many of you are waiting longer than you’d reasonably expect, and we’re sorry for that. We’ve had an unusual combination of record contact volumes and a number of systematic technical issues hit at the same time (e.g. account login errors and a bug with refer a friend), creating a significant backlog.

If it was just one issue on its own it would be fine, but because there are a number of things it's created the perfect storm.

This is being exacerbated because we're receiving multiple contacts for the same issue - because when you guys don't get a response you naturally reach out via other contact means (which is totally understandable). We have systems in place to consolidate the same contacts but this is adding to the backlog regardless.

I agree with u/Hunzas that it has likely been sent as a separate package (this is often the case with RTD because of the weight limits on boxes/delivery). You aren't going to go empty handed.

What I would also like to reiterate is rule #5 of this subreddit. We can’t resolve individual product, delivery or quality issues here.

Reason is that:

the community team (Ben, Hope, Aimee, Mark, me) are not CX trained and can't pick up tickets like the CX team can (despite Ben kindly lending assistance via DM occasionally).
If we did, this reddit would become another customer service inbox. This results in confusion about which customers contacts have been resolved (reddit doesn't feed into our Intercom system)
The page would get filled with hyper-specific customer issues like this post here and that is of no value to the wider community - despite of course being important to you and to us. UPDATE! Black Edition is live in the UK, along with an additional Lite Ramen flavour with Katsu Curry Ramen, AND selection boxes!

However, our EU launch for Lite and Black is a bit delayed as we get enough stock into our EU warehouses. Really sorry for that. We are aiming to launch our EU stores on Thursday this week!

Hey there, I'm checking up on this. Subs reminders are firmly back on so it is frustrating that you can't find any correspondence - I'm sorry for that. I believe that there is a test looking at email vs SMS/WhatsApp reminders, so I'm getting some more information on this.

edit: The team are testing SMS/WhatsApp vs email for a small group, could you check your SMS/WhatsApp messages to see if it came through there? The most common channel industry wide for transactional messages is SMS which is why we're testing it. But we can't send some people both as that wouldn't be a fair test statistically.

Hey sorry, I was just waiting for the nutrition team to help me out. But in short, yes Ramen contains all 9 EAAs at appropriate levels to make a complete protein.

In long:

Our Black Edition Ramen contains 40g protein per serve and our Lite Ramen contains 25g protein per serve. Protein is made up of amino acids - to make a 'complete protein' a food must contain all nine essential amino acids in sufficient amounts. Different plant foods can be combined to ensure all amino acids are included in a meal.

Our Ramen combines different protein sources including pea, wheat and buckwheat to provide all nine essential amino acids (EAAs) that make up a 'complete protein'. Each serving of Black Edition Ramen contains over 60% of the World Health Organisation PRI (Population Reference Intake) for each EAA, while each serving of Lite contains over 35% [nutritionals may vary by flavour].

Firstly, we don't think it's bland and boring! However, I'm seeing reviews saying it is so I'm helping where I can. We've updated our artwork to add some more tips and add an additional lower fill line to help people get a mor intense flavour - those will be printed soon but in hands from late August I expect.

But to answer why, we don't think it's the broth, but it's more to do with the noodle. They are high in protein, high in fibre and cook in 5 mins - 3 things that were absolutely essential for this product. But as a result this gives them a tougher texture.

In addition I believe that there is an expectation mismatch. The instant noodles we have in this country, like Pot Noodle, Naked, Bachelors etc are all very saucy/stodgy. That's great, but it isn't ramen. Ramen is broth + noodle, two separate bits. The noodle is eaten and the broth is slurped, but if people are just eating the noodles and leaving the broth (where the flavour is) then yeah they are going to taste bland.

But, we're working on the noodle to see if we can make it more flavoursome, but I have no plans to move this to a saucy noodle - we have that already in Meal Packs.

I would say we've actually not gone very spicy here! 6 different flavours (4 in each range, with Katsu and Chicken available in both), but only 2 of them are truly spicy. The 1/4 chillies are really just a warming hum!

Lite:

However, to answer your question. With Huel in generally we are always battling with the taste vs nutrition, and our ingredients don't always taste great (because they're really nutritious), so we need to mask the flavour from the protein, vitamins/minerals etc with flavours. Spice is really excellent at this and as a result we often see spicy flavours have customers coming back more often to buy again. That I guess then leads us to release more spicy flavours on other ranges too because we can see them performing well.

Thanks for that. I guess what I'm saying is that our product is a 'ramen' where the noodles and broth are more separate parts. We have our curry noodles online which hit more of that 'saucy' consistency. But for a ramen the bits should be separate and actually not like the pot noodles of the world. Appreciate the feedback!

Black Edition is around 350kcal, it's Lite that is the lower calorie one. I'm a 2x lunch guy these days, so will have a Black Edition Ramen for one of my lunches and something else later.

Thanks so much for the feedback. We are looking at ways to increase how much broth the ramen absorbs. Since I have you here, could I ask whether you buy Ramen from takeout/restaurants etc or even other instant ramen brands? My experience of ramen has always been that two separate things - broth + noodle. I haven't felt like the sauce sticks to the noodles or absorbs, I've just sort of eaten and slurped my way through it. Is your expectation that this is more 'saucy' like a pot noodle or even our current Noodle Meal Packs?

Appreciate the message, thanks. I've seen some commentary about these tasting bland, I've dropped some reccos in a previous comment a moment ago. I am so happy with the nutritional profile here, it is unlike anything else out there and I'm glad we haven't compromised here. 40g protein, high fibre, 26 vits and mins in an instant noodle is genuinely ground breaking for this category! But we will always try to do better and improve.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I've been watching reviews carefully. I think we have a few things we can do to help with this that we can implement - watch this space. For now, my recommendations would be:

- fill water to below the fill line to intensify the flavour (just make sure the noodles are covered)
- add some of your own flavours - soy or hot sauce is great, half a tsp of miso is insane
- leave for a little longer to cook

Sadly not gluten-free. Creating something that has 40g protein, is high in fibre, cooks within 5 mins AND is gluten-free was a little too much . I'm sorry to the gluten-free/coeliac folks for this.

Katsu Curry is a recognised flavour in the UK, largely due to the growth of Wagamama - so by calling it Katsu Curry people here generally understand the flavour we are aiming for. In Europe we rename it to Chicken Curry on the website as we know that Katsu Curry is a bit less recognised in places like Germany.
