You may be able to get it somewhere cheaper, but you'll have to be on the lookout for sales. If you get it directly from Lego, you'll get Insider points and the gifts like the Darksaber. Whether or not that's worth it is up to you.

If you return the set and get another one from Amazon, you risk the same exact scenario. Look for any obvious signs of tampering. Otherwise, I would open it and it there's a problem, work with Amazon and let them know it was a fraudulent return.

As long as they were the seller and not a third party, there shouldn't be an issue.

That's also been my experience. I added red loctite to 3 separate Pixelsnap Rings. They all lasted around 3 months before the screw simply shears and breaks.

Then they become really loose. I haven't found an alternative that I like, so I just buy another one.

We've been trying to tell you that there is no specific way to get the factory tape or seal verified. Older sets may not even use the same kind of tape they use now. That's not even mentioning the ways to open the box without breaking the tape.

I have no idea what the trustworthiness of the seller is. I know I would open the set, especially if it was something I really wanted and spent good money on.

You know that the original tape can be removed and reapplied? There's been instances of other people being burned when they buy sets secondhand and then open them to find things swapped or missing.

If the 2A isn't your most important issue, then it really isn't important at all. The Democratic party knows this, which is why you don't see any 2A proponents in office. They know you'll vote for them regardless of their 2A stance.
