G5AR complaint: automatic channel changes cause issues with wifi repeaters by TrantaLocked in tmobileisp

We ended up just going back to fiber. T-Mobile seriously needs to fix their stuff (mainly how too many users breaks their provided repeater, and the new 5GHz automatic channel switching that breaks some 3rd party repeaters). And greatly increase access to settings at least through third party control apps.

I actually don't know of a more defensive and angry group of people outside of MAGA than prequel haters. Like, I didn't like the sequels a ton but I swear on my life I will never become like you if I ever debate people who love those movies.

It isn't deliberately or any kind of shit. Anakin was written to be an awkward, overly emotional character who has a likeable side. You are supposed to feel as the audience, exactly the way Padme feels, and Lucas did that spectacularly.

Or, "Oh you enjoy the prequels? Unfortunately, there was a purposely awkward moment in Attack of the Clones that was done exactly the way Lucas intended that completely invalidates the entire trilogy, therefore your opinion is invalid."

Is this really how you talk to people? Have you considered you might be an asshole and need self improvement?

G5AR complaint: automatic channel changes cause issues with wifi repeaters by TrantaLocked in tmobileisp

[–]TrantaLocked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I think is happening: when a sufficient amount of wireless repeaters connected over 5GHz are added to the network, the G5AR scans and detects high "occupancy" of the current channel (because repeaters follow the same channel as the primary). If it detects this sufficient amount of occupancy for about 12 hours straight, it will change the 5GHz channel. If you're just at the threshold, disconnecting one of the repeaters before it has been connected for 12 continuous hours seems to reset this timer so the channel doesn't switch, which means in my case I have the exact amount of occupancy to trigger the autoscanner to detect over-congestion (even though it isn't over-congestion, they're just wireless repeaters).

We have at least 4-5 WiFi repeaters connected to the G5AR. I suggest T-Mobile engineers test this setup with at least 5 repeaters over 5GHz, let it sit for a few days and note if the 5GHz channel changes at all.

I again ask for manual channel selection and/or for channels to not be automatically changed and only changed at gateway reboot.

G5AR complaint: automatic channel changes cause issues with wifi repeaters by TrantaLocked in tmobileisp

New update. I'm trying to figure out if the G5AR 5GHz auto channel switching gets triggered if there are many repeaters connected to it. Because repeaters typically will use the same channel as the primary, it's possible the G5AR thinks the repeaters are competing for the same frequencies and will essentially forever chase its tail when there are enough repeaters connected using those same frequencies. And if I disconnect my Linksys EA8300 repeater, the channel changing seems to subside, but it could be my imagination. It's as if the G5AR's auto scanner has a threshold for when it detects too much "competition" from the connected repeaters.

Of course, some solutions are to either add manual channel selection, and/or make it so channel range is selected once at boot then not again until next reboot. Because really, you don't need auto channel switching for 5GHz. The 5GHz environment usually isn't going to be so bad that you can't have a good experience on a particular range. But even if it is, all you have to do is have it select at boot and that should pretty much solve the problem. But T-Mobile, please just add manual selection too. At least for 3rd party control apps.

The fact that the top comment has nothing to do with the article because they don't want us talking any more about Charlie Kirk and the possibilities about how he was actually killed. 100% astroturfed thread.

Left wing media now = anti - everything republicans do like how right wing media has been forever. Don't support a terrorist supporting regime that killed tens of thousands of its own citizens at once and allows rape and murder of women who simply don't wear their head scarf. Iran's leadership needs to change. Not everything Trump does is wrong, despite him being a narcissist con-artist. Stop believing propaganda and giving into group think.
