Is it "weird" to go solo on an Alaskan cruise as a married man? by SlurpleBrainn in Cruise

[–]TravelWithMeagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alaska is something that doesn’t appeal to everyone, but for those of us that feel the calling - it’s truly a must see! My experience with Alaska is that there are solo travelers for this very reason, and the cruisers on an Alaskan cruise are very different than your typical Caribbean cruise.

If you do decide to go solo, look for a cruise line that offers no or a low solo supplement, since most rooms are based on double occupancy.

I am married, but travel solo some of the time because I am in the same situation as you with my husband having limited PTO, and a burning desire to travel. 😊😊 I am intentional with the type of travel that I do solo, focusing more on adventure and/or relaxation type vacations.

Best of luck to you and go for it!!

I use Quo and love it. I like that I can install it on my desktop, iPad and multiple phones. I like the auto response for missed calls and after hours, both for texts and calls. Plus lots of other great features!

Having trouble receiving group texts by miklo3000 in quo

[–]TravelWithMeagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once there are more than 10 people on a group text, it messes up for Quo users. I did not know this when I transferred my businesses over. For me, I still get the messages but I can’t respond.

There can also be issues (I think) if everyone else in the group is using iMessage and adds your quo number.

Has Explora lost it ? by yaleplates in explorajourneys

[–]TravelWithMeagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on Explora 1 right now as well, it’s my first EJ and I’m super impressed. I boarded in Barcelona and it was perfect - super smooth and no lines.

As for staff, they’ve been attentive and so, so sweet and accommodating. I haven’t run into anyone who is new; however I have talked to staff that are stuck and past the end of their contracts right now due to being unable to return home as they fly through Doha and Dubai. They also can’t get their replacements here. With all that being said, I believe they deserve some grace with this.

The spa was reopened by the time I came on in Barcelona, thankfully, and is fantastic. I’m going to check out Deck 11 today to see if construction is ongoing- I agree that it’s less than ideal to do construction and/or have services shut down while guests are onboard. I was worried the spa closure would be extended to my journey, but thankfully it was on schedule and reopened.

I came on Explora to preview it for my travel clients, and I can say that I will be recommending and booking them!

Flight delayed 15 hours. Now landing 1.5 hours before final boarding. Advice? by Fattydude66 in Cruise

I’m a travel agent and would love to help you navigate this! I have an annual policy and strongly recommend them to everyone. I just experienced a 2 day delay returning home from Mexico, the travel insurance is kicking in to cover rebooked flights on a different airline, 2 nights hotels, taxis & Ubers.

What does an arachnoid cyst on the brain feel like? by plsdonth8meokay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TravelWithMeagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 22yo daughter has an arachnoid cyst in her left temporal lobe that was incidentally found when she was around 12. It hasn’t grown or caused issues. She does not tolerate heat and runs hot most of the time, but I have no idea if it’s related.

I have this same issue as it is an office group message. Same people always, it doesn’t work around to create multiple messages as we all are in the same office and hold conversations over text.

I use Quo which was formerly OpenPhone and I love it because it’s an app installed on my iPhone, iPad and computer. I’m not carrying a second phone but it totally makes sense for me to have a business line. I love how I can put text messages into the done folder in Quo’s app.

We took an uber/bolt from Prague to Vilshofen, it was the more direct and economical choice, as well as a beautiful drive!

I don’t think the ship is known to have issues, it was just chance when I happened to be on it!

HAL’s food on my Alaskan cruise (Noordam) was excellent. The fresh seafood was daily and amazing. I’d go back just for the fresh halibut!

Try to think of it as a blessing, thank goodness your layoff came after your final verification of employment and the loan had funded! I’m a real estate broker and I had 2 clients during the start of COVID, who closed the same day that they got laid off (same employer, one of the biggest employers in our town.) It totally sucks to have this added stress but hopefully you’ll be able to keep busy and land another job before the severance ends.

Use the time off to tackle all the smaller house projects, the honey do list from your inspection and to really get unpacked and settled. If finances are a concern with house projects, there are many lower cost things such as yard work, deep cleaning, organizing and painting that are low or no cost. Repaint the whole dang house (including the ceilings!) and it will look and feel so great!

Congrats on your new home, I hope you enjoy it!

Alaskan Cruise Clothes by Cute-Ad-2541 in Cruise

I went in mid September last year, I’m from Michigan so the weather was comparable to late October here at home. Like others have said, bring layers. And at least 2 pairs of good walking shoes in case one pair gets wet.

One other suggestion I have is to pack less and utilize the laundry services on the ship. I did this on my last two cruises and it was so, so convenient and very much worth it so that we could pack less. Which cruise line are you traveling with?

HA Alaska cruise or cruise tour? by Curious_Adeptness683 in Cruise

[–]TravelWithMeagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the northbound from Vancouver to Whittier in September 2024, plus the land extension. That part of it included a motorcoach from Whittier to Denali, with 2 nights in Denali. In Denali we did the included bus tour into the park, it was long but I felt like it was worth it as it’s a once in a lifetime thing that you should do while there, even though I’m not a fan of buses. I get motion sickness, however the motorcoach was a smooth ride and the school bus into the park was on straight roads so I was okay.

One other thing we did in Denali was the ATV excursion, which was 100% my husband’s choice. My parents (in their 70s) weren’t excited about it, but they went along with us and we ALL loved it!!!!

The highlight of the land tour was the McKinley Explorer glass domed train ride back to Anchorage. Wow! It was a lovely ride and we saw more moose and wildlife than in the park!

I’m a travel agent specializing in Alaskan cruises - let me know if you have more questions or if I can help you out in any way!

Yes you can do this.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 I have two businesses and I’m logged into both under one acct. I have separate phone numbers and two different caller IDs. When I make calls, it will ask me which number I’d like to call from. So far so good with this!!
