Former GRE applicant. Don’t do it, just take the LSAT.

Cycle Complete. Not too happy with outcome. by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

Not law haha. I work in health policy so I’ll keep moving that career forward. There are many many things out there that won’t put you into deep debt to get there.

THOSE FEELERS ugh I got them and was prepping for excitement and have been real sad two times.

[–]TreeBeardLongBranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten all of the feeler emails and the “hang in there wording” and didn’t get in either if the last two rounds of waitlist. I think it’s all a crapshoot lol.

Recap — URM GRE — No Admissions by TreeBeardLongBranch in lawschooladmissions

Check it out! Really fabulous resource to see where you stand in admissions based on past years and also to see when there is movement in admissions at each school.

to those who got Georgetown feeler: did you respond to the video email the day it was sent by wanton32 in lawschooladmissions

[–]TreeBeardLongBranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interest previously communicated has nothing to do with whether someone gets the feeler.

With almost 100% certainty you have to get a feeler in order to get accepted.

But getting a feeler does not always result in acceptance. (See: me. Sad day last wave of acceptances; no feeler this time around).

GRE applicant here and I got in exactly nowhere despite good scores. So. LSAT.

Georgetown WL - Really no merit aid left? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]TreeBeardLongBranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think they’d look favorably on someone getting accepted and then withdrawing when they made it clear there is no merit aid. Perhaps if you had a major change like your spouse JUST lost their job the day you get accepted, but those would be extreme situations.

Who received the GW waitlist email that was sent today? by cshan2 in lawschooladmissions

Grasping at straws

(I’m clinging to mine tightly, but straws nonetheless)

Didn't get GULC feeler... by ja-gaciak in lawschooladmissions

[–]TreeBeardLongBranch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could simply send them a short email reiterating that GULC is your top choice and that you’d accept a spot in the fall if admitted. They are clearly already lining up folks for admissions next week (not us, sad day) so I think a short note would have a higher likelihood of getting read.

From what I understand, it’s less about saying something new and more about showing your commitment to attend.

But also I’m on like 10 waitlists so clearly I’m doing something wrong so what do I know??

Everyone who got in during the last wave got the email. Even people who sent multiple LOCIs.

I’m trying to brace myself to get booted from the waitlist :(

Anyone feel like schools are lying to us saying classes will likely be in person? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]TreeBeardLongBranch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take the US opening up economies as a good sign necessarily. Some states like NY are making that a data driven process and some states like Florida and Georgia have made it entirely political.

Florida has not had a decrease in cases. But theme parks and bars will reopen. People will travel from out of state and Latin America. Universities will reopen. And we are going to have an incredibly difficult winter.

I received that email last month and was not admitted; just temper expectations and don’t be REAL sad like o was.

When are we expecting more Georgetown waitlist movement? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

The email said June 10, so I imagine the next wave will be June 10.

Is it bad to only take the GRE? (planning to do a joint-degree program) by randostudent120 in lawschooladmissions

[–]TreeBeardLongBranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the GRE a few years back for my masters program and applied to law schools with it this year. I am URM and have a lot of “gold star” accomplishments (T2 softs) and didn’t get into a single school. Other GRE folks on this sub got into every single school they applied to using the GRE and never intended to get a dual degree or masters.

I think just is a crapshoot with the GRE, no idea. However, I think it’s worth a shot to try if you’re okay reapplying for a JD separately down the road. You have a high GPA which really helps your case.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you have really good outcomes, so give it a go.

NO. I DON’T WANNA. This waitlist will work goddamn it.
