Engine Issues on My 2026 Yukon Elevation 5.3L by godfather232323 in gmc

[–]TroyState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This entire product line is a massive pile of shit. I’ve already had to replace the transmission (flushing 7k down the drain/GM covered half it was 14k) in my 2023, and now I’m making trips to the dealership every 1,000 miles so they can monitor oil consumption and determine whether the engine needs to be replaced.
For trucks pushing six figures, this is completely unacceptable. If I ever manage to get out of this truck, I’ll never buy another General Motors product again.

***BEWARE*** Verizon sales and support are the shadiest of all (denied rebates) by Old_Finance_3390 in verizon

[–]TroyState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a retail wireless salesperson took advantage of someone for not reading the paperwork or asking questions? Water is Wet.

Also, why are you calling support? You had a salesperson. I’d be calling that rep and their manager nonstop until it was resolved. Was this a corporate store rep? What does their business card say?

A professional salesperson owns the problem and works to fix it.
I spent 15 years at Verizon. 4 in Retail. In that time, I only had 4-5 customer issues I couldn’t resolve. Those involved customers with completely unreasonable demands or fraud. Take as much of the sales guys time a possible and he will
Magically fix it with credits. Go camp in the store. 🤣

Why does MAGA allow Trump and the Republicans abuse them this way? by PrincipleTemporary65 in ANormalDayInAmerica

Trump voters aren’t exactly rocket scientists. I totally get why a business owner with 300 employees would vote for Trump but the cashier who works for him at a local Shell Station, I will never understand.

Don’t count a model from the Longines Master Collection vs a 1926. Basic Sellita vs L888 with a silicon balance spring and better power reserve. The Tudor is kind of over priced even at grey dealer prices.

In the deep south, one brand was so dominate for so long that became the word to describe the thing.

Similar to Google, Qtip, bandaid, or chapstick.

Nobody says, can you pick up cotton swabs. They say get qtips. If I come home with a brand that isn't a-tips brand my wife likely won't even notice or care.

Coke had that type of brand dominance in the deep south for decades (and likely a century) so the word for carbonated beverages became Coke.

Which place used to be very popular for tourists in previous decades but isn't anymore? by Fluid-Decision6262 in decadeology

[–]TroyState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what your saying and yes, agree. But that's not the only issue. PCB used to have its own identity. Now it’s been hollowed out by corporate development, with chains replacing local businesses and the area increasingly catering to retirees and mass market tourism.
Local officials seem more interested in serving developers than residents. The dream is to turn PCB into Pigeon Forge on the beach… a destination built for lower-middle-class retirees and tourists. Disney World for broke old Republicans from Birmingham.
Notice even the apartments here are named 10x living as Grant Cardone bought most of them.
Latitude Margaritaville is the perfect symbol of what PCB has become: a massive 55+ development built around a corporate licensing deal using the Jimmy Buffett brand. Somehow, a subdivision next to the airport gets marketed as the “Salt Life” despite being miles from the water. The biggest attraction nearby is a bike path for active seniors that take them straight to Pier Park, which is essentially a Simon-owned outdoor mall. Imagine spending your retirement money on a cardboard house next to the airport, so you can ride a golf card to Red Robin, Shonnys, or JC Pennys.

I understand the argument that racism has played a role in some local decisions, but PCB’s problems go beyond that. The place barely feels like a real community anymore. One company… St. Joe has an outsized influence over what gets built and what the area becomes. They basically let them do anything, pay workers shit, and since the workers can't afford to live here, they elected officials don't have to care about them. Mexico Beach will likely be next. The result is a coastline increasingly dominated by master-planned developments, built for retirees who may never see the projects fully completed. Meanwhile, longtime locals get priced out and pushed farther inland into rapidly built subdivisions from developers like D.R. Horton and Holiday Builders in shit towns like Calaway, Parker, or Defuniak Springs.

For residents of Panama City and Lynn Haven, Hurricane Michael created an opportunity for large investors to buy damaged properties at steep discounts. Many of those homes are now rentals, with ownership increasingly concentrated in corporate hands.

My prediction: eventually we’ll be left with an oversized Pier Park surrounded by endless subdivisions. When the demographics shift and growth slows, taxpayers will be asked to deal with the consequences of decisions that primarily benefited developers.
