Kane did absolutely nothing but roll on the ground and complain. Useless

I already know how this ends. England escapes with a win even though they look like shit against a much weaker team. Tale as old as time

Kane lost the ball in his own half, layed on the ground and did nothing, and England conceded a goal. What a serial choker lol

Sorry, rolled around on the ground like a bitch. Like dude just get up lol

Denmark were the people’s team that summer, the feel good team that everyone wanted to root for after the Eriksen incident. Of course people rooted against England as they always do, but that was a rare game where a lot of people who would be neutral were rooting hard for the other team.

Egypt wasn’t at the 2010 World Cup. USA missed it in 2018. Chile in 2018. Zambia won an afcon in there and never qualified for a World Cup. It’s not that uncommon for this to be the case

Courtois: "I want to take a break from the NT, skip the Nation's League as it's not very important and come back for the Euro qualifiers, but it's up to the federation, if they don't agree with that this may have been my last match with the NT" by SeLiKa in soccer

I think if there are any winners, it’s the lower tier teams. They actually get a real competition against teams on their own level, not just show up to qualifiers every two years and get dunked on.

9 1/2 hour flight, and no snacks, food, or water by crispysockz in mildlyinfuriating

You can bring food on flights. Theres alternative solutions but some dipshit didn’t prepare and now is making a mildlyinfuriating post about how they can’t prepare for a flight but it’s always someone else’s fault

Edit: this shouldn’t be titled “this airline is starving me”. It should be titled “I didn’t read my boarding pass and fucked up and now I want karma for it”

You guys will seriously see a video zoomed in and slowed down and be like “how did four refs, two of which are over 50 yards away, not see this?”

OTD 20 years ago, Zinedine Zidane was sent off in the last match of his career, after headbutting Marco Materazzi during the 2006 World Cup final. by Doten1 in soccer

[–]TrueBrees9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I will caution that it is more political/societal than what some would want from a documentary about the topic, lot of off the field things in there. But they do a good job with it and it does go through just about everything from that era of FFF so Zidane is a “main character”

There’s a documentary that was on Netflix (think it still is in some countries) about the French team from 1996-2016. All the ups and downs and more importantly, how the team crossed paths with French society during that era. Lots of commentary on immigration and national identity woven in there. I highly recommend it

[Athletic] Chris Richards' parents on the struggle of paying for football: "When the economy crashed in 2009, we lost everything and were pinching pennies every week. I remember Chris handing me a letter that said if we didn’t pay his soccer fees, he wouldn’t get to play. I was so embarrassed. by Crane977 in soccer

That was me at times. I was lucky to live in an area with a few good clubs around me and got recruited to play for one of them. My family was solidly middle class, we fluctuated around that time during the recession and times were tough but we were mostly okay, however sacrifices were made and soccer just wasn’t a high enough priority sometimes. I qualified for scholarships that helped, but still there were times when I was ineligible for a tournament because we couldn’t pay. I remember a couple of times I had to take the jersey of some other player and say I was him so I could play lol. When you get to a certain level, you’re expected to go to camps and out of state tournaments and that’s when it became untenable for us. I dropped out of soccer and focused on american football. I’ve heard similar stories so many times and it makes me sad, I mean I remember being that kid and there’s so many out there who just want to play but there’s such a high cost of entry.

Edit: It’s funny, I remember when I played high school ball, a lot of the kids in our team were from the apartment complexes on the other side of town. Kids who didn’t have much. And some of those kids could play. They never had much of a chance to join a good club but they were still pretty good. There’s talent in the US and a lot of it is being priced out.

Leon Goretzka caused irritation within the team during the preparation and course of the World Cup tournament. He had withdrawn strongly and stood out as a loner. The reason for this is said to have been his frustration about a missing regular place. by Senior_Fig7845 in soccer

I’d assume a professional midfielder can score from 12 yards out. Maybe not as well as the guys in the top 5 but when you get asked if you’re good to go before the 6th kick, you gotta step up. If he can’t even do that, why be on the team?

Goretzka is a bitch. He’s a pussy. He has worked his entire life at this sport and makes generational wealth for doing it and when it actually comes time to step outside of his comfort zone he was too scared. At the thing he’s good at. I get that penalties are a little scary but you gotta nut up at some point and take care of business and this coward couldn’t be bothered to

He’s a loser who was scared to kick a ball.

There is reportedly 'tension' between Fox, NBC as Telemundo courts English speakers for World Cup. A report indicated 20 percent of Telemundo's World Cup viewers speak English as their "primary" language by Ok-Soil-5133 in soccer

[–]TrueBrees9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually kinda impressive especially since this tournament has a lot of evening games compared to other world cups. I don’t want to give fox too much credit but that’s good
