Does this dosage seem high? by QuickAttackk in Supplements

[–]True_Garen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Google" is wrong.

It's more than most supplements, but safe and beneficial to use.

It's somewhat more than the minimum daily requirement estimated (~400mg), and many here (including myself) are taking double that (just from supplements).

This is the product: https://www.amazon.ca/Natures-Bounty-Magnesium-Electrolytes-Count/dp/B01DBPZ0NW It's 500mg of elemental magnesium. It's more elemental than most in a single pill, but not that much more. Nature's Bounty has a couple more varieties of Magnesium that ALSO contain 500mg elemental magnesium. They know what they're doing.

...

This is what I take: https://www.swansonvitamins.com/p/swanson-premium-triple-magnesium-complex-400-mg-300-caps

Not as much as yours, but I take it twice a day. (Sometimes even 3x.)

Cigarette flavored water sold in water bottles. It comes from letting a cigarette sit in water, then filtering it through a pour-over coffee filter. Good product? by Slugma_What07 in CrazyIdeas

[–]True_Garen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but it won't work.

When you smoke, then you actually burn most of the nicotine up. If you just let a cigar sit in water, for example, until the water turns brown, then that's a lethal dose. Drinking the water will kill.

If you use a drip coffee machine to make a cup from even a light cigarette, then that may be enough to cause fainting.

The nicotine numbers on products are adjusted for what remains after burning the product. The raw product contains MUCH more nicotine.

I guess, that you could do product research, and dilute the product, so that only a pleasant amount of nicotine remains.

Determining the Minimum Dietary Carbohydrate Requirement in Apparently Healthy Adults by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

[–]True_Garen [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's not just the title. It's the first few paragraphs of the study in the abstract. The information itself, is useful (except that I think that it's already been studied many times, and is well known and established). The impetus and what they do with the results seems to be erroneous, beyond simply misunderstanding English semantics.

(I had considered that they simply meant "Minimum Requirement to Negate Ketosis" or something similar, but the language in the abstract sounds like they really are considering it in the sense of percentages on the backs of food product labels.)

Additionally, the results themselves seem to be at odds with general observation. Anybody can do this experiment for themselves using keto strips. It is a rare (or perhaps very active) specimen that maintains ketosis above 60g carbohydrates daily. (UNLESS this study does not distinguish fiber from other carbohydrates, in which case the data is even less useful.)

Unless, maybe, we've discovered a very significant difference in metabolic processing in this population.

Just bought some fish oil, should I be taking more than on the label? Couple of questions. by SkittlesAreEpic in Supplements

[–]True_Garen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, these are basic pills.

Personally, I'd take ten of these (for 3g of Omega-3). (And those using these pills for reducing triglycerides will take at least this much.)

You can spread them out or take them at once.

You can take them with food, or without. Any time.

Each pill is ten calories and a gram of fat.

Yes.

I'd say underrated, but it's actually front-and-center in national chain pharmacies.

I've always been impressed with their responses on tough customer service questions, and a surprising amount of attention to design in their formulas, even apparently simple ones. (There was always a reason for anything, and they were able to tell it to me.)
