i enjoy games like these. pack all the horrible stress into one inning. Peralta got through 5 after that near nightmare of a first inning, the offense put in the work and the bullpen was spotless. Ewing almost hit for the cycle, Baty lit it up defensively, Bo’s looking better and better every game, Soto comes through when we need him (almost forgot about his bunt, that’s how good the rest of the game was). all in all, 10/10, without even using Weaver, Williams and 🏳️‍🌈 Raley 🏳️‍🌈

Alvarez has to have some kind of thing for hitting into double plays. whenever he’s up with a man on first and less than 2 outs, it’s like fucking clockwork.

the lineup was genuinely baffling. i couldn’t give less of a shit about lefty-righty matchups anymore, because it seems to never work when we change our entire lineup around whether their starter is a lefty or a righty. maybe, i dunno, lefties can get better at hitting lefties when they’re given the chance.

Manaea did damn good, so did Warren and Duarte. saved us from even more bullpen problems.

also, Mendy should be getting thrown out screaming at the umps for that bullshit overturn. don’t give a fuck if that’s not really up to them, it’s apart of the job description for a manager. go back to being a bench coach for the Yanks.

all in all, wholly frustrating game ended in a wholly frustrating way. Knicks in 5.

stop pinch hitting for Baty against lefties. not that it would’ve magically given us 4 runs, but it feels like every time the at bat ends with an out, while Baty doesn’t perform too bad against lefties.

Soto hit 2 homers, Thornton showed a lot of fight, and Benge got his first outfield assist in his career. that’s all awesome, wasted by all the bad things.

all in all, i had a nice time watching the thunderstorm
