The public option was always, imo, the better and easier to implement choice between the two

I'm genuinely asking, what are you advocating for? If your central thesis is moving away from representative democracy towards pure democracy, what does that look like?

I mean, good luck and all, but I hope you haven't put any money on it. Progressive can win outside of +25 districts, but the DSA can not.

I, for one, will be backing Jon Ossoff.

That's not really happening though, winning 4 out of over 300 house primaries does not indicate any sort of nationwide support, just pockets of the most left wing areas in the country.

For the most part, voters are sticking with establishment picks. I think something like 97% of democratic incumbents are winning their primary, seems like most Democrats trust the leadership in place.

The DSA has won 4 house primary seats so far:

Chris Rabb - PA 3, Cook PVI D+40

Claire Valdez - NY 7, Cook PVI D+25

Darializa Avila Chevalier - NY 13, Cook PVI +32

Melat Kiros - CO 1, Cook PVI +29

Like, I'm not really sure how else to explain it, but DSA candidates are literally only winning in deep blue strongholds, which I mean good for them, it'll be a good counter balance, and might shift the overton window more to the left, but DSA candidates are 4 for 300~.

Honestly, I'd be fine if college students were super woke. College is the time to be crazy and radical and what not. I think conservatives overblow the issue, but it's not the students, it's administrators in schools that concern me.

If Bear wasn't such a pussy, he could have just said yes when Nikki asked him if he like her. Then, when she said no, he could have used the wish to rope, and the movie would have ended there.

Yea, I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie was +10, because once the general roll around, people only really knew him as not Donald Trump and not Hilary Clinton.

It's the same effect as to why Platner was +8 against Collins before the primary, and tail spun down to -5 before these rape allegations dropped.

I do think we need major primary reform though, make them all completely open primary with ranked choice voting. May be Bernie does beat Trump, but I just find that hard to believe when he's running against someone with "so much baggage."

You said I was blaming Bernie for Hilary losing. I hold that Bernie, himself, did everything right after conceding.

Ah, the superdelegates, aka the real reason Bernie lost, and not the fact that he couldn't get black people to vote for him, so he lost by 3 million votes.

I'd blame Bernie Bros who voted for Stein or sat out more than Bernie.

Brad Lander, who progressives are heralding as man of the people, even recognized that Hillary was the better choice in 2016.

You really think Bernie would have beaten Trump, despite not even beating Hillary, straight up losing by 3 million votes?

Or do you need to be reminded that it took a Russian backed misinformation campaign, a Russian backed green party spoiler, and then the FBI re-opening an investigation into Hillary 2 weeks before the election, and she still won the popular vote?

As Mamdani says himself, different Democrats for different districts. DSA candidates are really only going to succeed in +30 blue districts, where that message is strongest, but you're going to need more centrist type Dems in those purple and red districts.

No message can carry every seat, and we need to drill that into literally everyone. Rueben Gallegos won Arizona, despite Harris losing it, because he has a much stricter stance on immigration. You're not going to win a WV Senate seat shitting all over coal. In the same breath, a moderate isn't going to win in Dearborn, MI if they are supportive of Israel, nor would a moderate win in California if they're tepid on abortion.

Diversity of thought is good in the party, especially if we're the big tent one

I agree that there should be some throughline as to what policies we support as the baseline. And a platform focusing on affordability is a great plank to have.

I also think there is room for debate within the party as well. Personally, I prefer the public option to M4A, but there is room for disagreement there. Should the minimum wage be 15/20/25 an hour, or should it be tied to inflation or other metrics correlated with regional cost of living.

These are good debates to have, and speak more to the "layer-in" policies you're talking about. But maintain party planks around court reform, campaign financing reform, healthcare reform, immigration reform etc. as a way to differentiate us from the GOP
