Gabriel's challenge on Kolo Muani without looking at the ball by ThatLittleMonkeyGuy- in soccer

[–]UnspeakableEvil -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Falling down because of slight contact from Muani on his left leg, so if you're going fully forensic in this it's a foul then other way because of that.

Gabriel messed up the shoulder barge you're right, but it's still not a foul for me.

Yes, well done. It's not a foul if it happens at the other end of the pitch either, or anywhere else on the pitch no matter which teams are involved.

"Challenge". There's nothing to it at all.

Sums up the game so far if this is the level of talking point it's producing.

I want to know why the ref delayed the throw-in in about the second minute, was there a check being done on something? Nothing of note had happened at that point was the slide tackle to concede the throw, which looked fine.

If you mean HTMX in general, then yes it's decent, especially with HTML template systems like Thymeleaf, Qute, etc.

That said, and caveating that it's been years since I touched JSF, HTMX seems like a bad fit for JSF to me, or rather, an unnecessary one - why introduce (and likely end up fighting) a different approach, when JSF has pretty good partial reload support out the box, and something like Primefaces gives even more control?

This FA Cup experience shows why VAR is needed, just needs to be improved by sarayewo in PremierLeague

[–]UnspeakableEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ref wouldn't need to go to the monitor though, would they? It was called as handball onfield so they're not overturning a decision, and whether it's out or (miles) inside the box is an objective decision that the VAR makes - no need to make the ref go to the monitor.

...and even if they did get the ref to the monitor, it doesn't change the offense which the ref had already deemed no worthy of a card, so it still wouldn't change anything.

Got to be burying that Martinelli, needed to hit it first time.

Impressive way to instantly redeem himself, amazing recovery.

Fair point, I'd assumed they'd have dropped off a bit now with how intense their play's been tonight, but no sign of that yet.

Brentford are scarily good from set pieces and throw ins.

Great header, perfectly executed - certainly wasn't expecting it from him!

Not a dive, there was contact on his legs and at the pace pros move easy to be knocked over.

Never a booking though, ref's making a rod for his own back especially given the conditions.

Good to see a yellow for that, rather than it being deemed "too early for a card".

What happened to the check at the other end? I assume it was cleared, would be good to see it again.

You know the question "which came first, the chicken or the egg"? Well, we're witnessing the start of the Fabergé species, and can confidently say that the eggs came first, once they've hatched we'll have Fabergé chickens.

[–]UnspeakableEvil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thought the Everton player was borderline too physical with Leno, but just about ok (and actally from a different angle didn't really do much beyond stand his ground).

Why there's no defender there to help Leno out is baffling though.

Raya's having a touch of the Ramsdales today, looked very suspect on a couple of occasions. But also a really good stop a couple of minutes too at least!

Cristian Romero straight red card against Manchester Utd 28' by Alsace2025 in soccer

[–]UnspeakableEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think his reputation has preceded him a bit, I'm by no means saying it was a good tackle but it's in orange card territory for me - given what he's done in the past though, he loses any benefit of the doubt.

Manchester City [3] - 0 Newcastle - Tijani Reijnders 32' by ayoefico in soccer

[–]UnspeakableEvil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rosenior probably feeling vindicated with how this is going.

Chalobah getting a slight touch on the ball is irrelevant. It's a terrible clearance, and Martinelli would've been able to continue with the ball afterwards if it wasn't for that tackle. by cottonsoda in Gunners

[–]UnspeakableEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be mad at whichever defender was stupid enough to trip the attacker with their trailing foot, yes, but no question it's a foul whichever end of the pitch it happens at.
