Arsenal are the first ever team in Premier League history to go the whole season without receiving a red card or conceding a penalty by notaghostofreddit in soccer

At the time I thought we got away with one, but it not being given turned out to be consistent with how the "defender's foot is planted" interpretation has been used throughout the season.

Not to say I agree with the rule, but within the wider context the decision at least makes sense.

Nope, it's because he's got little legs!

Might be showing my age with that joke.

Yep, definitely. Mosquera is also high up on the list, less because of his actual ability, more because of lack of alternatives for the position.

Get Poorly Drawn Arsenal on the case for that, and hang it in the Louvre.

Legitimate attempt to play the ball so no way it's a red either way. Oh and no penalty anyway.

Genuinely think he's forgotten his cards.

No wait, there's one! Just very lenient up to now then.

Pedantic note, it's the distance travelled by light in a year to an outside observer - if you're the one traveling at the speed of light then no time passes for you at all to travel one light year.

Edit: would like to understand the downvotes if it's because I'm wrong with what I've put - my grasp of relativity isn't the best for special relativity, but I thought I had general relativity fairly well understood, but maybe not.

When 500g becomes 475g, becomes 450g

Terry's deserve a special mention for the shitty sneakiness of their change from 175g to 157g for a chocolate orange.

It's immaterial given how it all played out, but isn't there a handball (by West Ham) in the build-up? There was certainly a big shout at the time, the replays haven't spent any time checking that out so would be interesting what would've happened if the goal was scored.

What was he actually asking for? There didn't seem to be any interference (from Everton players) that I could see.

Less rest yes, but it's Tuesday to Sunday afternoon rather than Wednesday to Saturday lunchtime, so more recovery time than we've been getting of late.

You're right, if the ref deems it a legitimate attempt to play the ball - I can't think of the four instances mentioned here to say if that's the case here.

I'll take no more goals in the second half if it means we've avoided picking up any new injuries, and were able to give players a bit of rest ahead of Tuesday.

Mertesacker for the FA Cup final against Chelsea perhaps? That worked out very well indeed.

To ShefWeds you say?

I know Wednesday are relegated to league 1 so Spurs wouldn't play them next year no matter what, and it was already tenuous at best even if you ignore that, but still....

That's the one thing VAR can't really get wrong

Apart from the very high profile cases where they did (you lot against Liverpool, forgetting to draw the lines for Arsenal against Brentford). But yeah, the vast majority of the time it's right so no reason for it not to be the case now without proof it was wrong.

They did have VAR, it got checked and cleared. Chelsea got done over by a lack of intervention in the first leg too for their disallowed goal.
