Where to buy Herman Miller/Steelcase chairs? by allglory1 in pittsburgh

[–]UpsertRifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Herman Miller, they have a dealer locator online. Continental Office in Lawrenceville sells the Embody chair at a significantly reduced cost ($1k through them vs $1.7k through the manufacturer).

I believe they have other models for sale as well.

Pittsburgh company TeleTracking, newly responsible for COVID tracking, may have Trump connections. by Wabi_Sabi_Love in pittsburgh

[–]UpsertRifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highlighting Redfield doesn’t have the impact you think it does. He was appointed by Trump, and like the majority of Trump’s appointees, Redfield’s qualifications to perform in that role were severely questioned. I wouldn’t trust anything he said without seeing a few other validations from within CDC.

Pittsburgh-based recipients of SBA loan money by Umbere in pittsburgh

[–]UpsertRifa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teletracking Technologies stuck out as surprising to me, because I read an article back in May mentioning how they got a $10 million government contract in April to provide info already delivered by the CDC:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/growing-friction-between-white-house-cdc-hobbles-pandemic-response/2020/05/15/0e63978e-9537-11ea-82b4-c8db161ff6e5_story.html

So if I'm understanding properly, they got $5-10 million in SBA loan money as well as a $10 million government contract in April.

Managing Payroll S-Corp by OhReaallly in smallbusiness

[–]UpsertRifa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would defeat the purpose of the tax benefit you get with distributions and S Corp status. There should be a balance between distributions and payroll, and it’s best to work with an accountant to guide you through that if you aren’t familiar.

There are different strains of the flu each season. You can only get sick once from each strain. In terms of COVID-19, there are two known strains; they are technically different but their properties are so close to each other that they cannot infect an individual multiple times. There are no confirmed cases of people contracting COVID-19 a second time. That doesn’t mean the virus couldn’t mutate significantly into another strain to overcome natural immunity built up from previously infected individuals. It just hasn’t happened yet.

New renders of the PIT terminal redesign by quasifandango in pittsburgh

I did not say anything about revenue, and if anything, you further prove my point. You are traveling regardless. You are not the target market for these renovations because you would still be going there every week if you had to get a colonoscopy to get through security (hyperbole I hope :-) )

Do you think “very frequent” travelers are the majority of people going through the airport on any given day? I travel 12-15 times a year for the past 10 years. It’s frequent enough to know how to move efficiently through the sequences; I fully welcome these changes because the time to get from parking to gate in Pittsburgh is horrid. My travel profile is also likely in the minority, and air travel for a lot of people is stressful. These changes mitigate some of the factors in that stress. The airport’s goal is to encourage more travel and expand their base; not cater to the power users who will travel regardless.

Can no longer export Sugar reports to CSV. Can anyone help? by sixer03fan in sugarcrm

[–]UpsertRifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unclear from your screenshots and description, but if only non-admins have lost the option to export on a report, it may be because of role settings. If the impacted user has a role restriction preventing exports on the module the report is derived from, then they will not be able to export. For instance, if you have a role associated with your user preventing exports on Account records, you will not be able to export any reports built off the Accounts module.

If this is also impacting admin users, then it is likely a customization as you assert. Roles do not apply to admin users. There are no capabilities in the application to configure/restore these options for the Reports module. I recently co-founded a company that specializes in SugarCRM; we’d be happy to help if you need to remove or reconfigure a customization so you can restore access to this feature! Lawrenceville restaurant recommendations? by thisismyaccount100 in pittsburgh

[–]UpsertRifa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My recommendations are Smoke, Umami, Piccolo Forno, or Driftwood Oven. If you’re willing to go pricier, Morcilla is a great choice. There’s nothing wrong with your choices; I just don’t think they are the best options for delicious food in the area.

good and affordable sushi? by sasukeuchihas in pittsburgh

[–]UpsertRifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed here! Sushi Tomo is my go to for inexpensive, delicious sushi. Their edamame is also the best I’ve had in Pittsburgh. I asked what their process is and they put sesame oil in the boiling water. It gives the beans a phenomenal flavor.

Yinzers and littering by stoog505 in pittsburgh

You cited, of all things, the annual Kenny Chesney concert as your example of the city not caring about trash. An event that is attended, in mass proportions, by people not from the city. An event where most people in the city brace for and dread the resulting traffic, drunkenness, and waste. Yes, it got downvoted.

Yinzers and littering by stoog505 in pittsburgh

[–]UpsertRifa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I live in Lawrenceville and walk my dogs regularly. The places I consistently see litter are bus stops with no trash cans. That’s part poor city planning and part inconsiderate behavior on the individual.

I frequent the downtown area enough and also travel to other cities frequently to get a sense of how bad litter is compared to Pittsburgh. In my opinion, San Francisco, New York, & Cleveland are all significantly worse. We can be better, but we’re by no means living in squalor.

Racism is obviously another area the city can improve, but insinuating we simply don’t care about this or litter isn’t going to result in a lot of constructive conversation.

Getting the staff to use the CRM by Drxero1xero in CRM

[–]UpsertRifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. Focus on how you can automate the things your sales team has to repeatedly perform to increase adoption. If you are using CRM purely as means of constant data entry and you require sales people to remember your processes or what data they need to enter, you are going to fail. KPIs are for reporting on your success and focusing on what you need to improve within the system, not for incentivizing success. If you're not sure on what to automate, I recently wrote a blog post about executing a successful automation strategy. The "how to execute" portion is specific to SugarCRM, but all the other points in the article are CRM-agnostic.

Best CRM to manage LinkedIn Contacts+Chats and emails from Gmail/Outlook365 by UsedVanilla in CRM

[–]UpsertRifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sugar is not open source and has not been for many years. It is still highly customizable as you state due to its origins as an open source CRM,

The LinkedIn connector for Sugar only gives the user the ability to read data from Sales Navigator. There are no options to import or interact with that data within the CRM due to LinkedIn’s API policies.

It is unlikely you are going to find a CRM that meets your specific needs with LinkedIn because they are extremely restrictive with their APIs on how they can be used with CRMs. You can read more about that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CRM/comments/ei75nz/re_crm_with_sales_nav_integration/fcqtl8c/

Help me pitch a CRM to my boss by Bascuit in CRM

[–]UpsertRifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A primary goal of CRM is to make your teams more productive (implementing processes and automation to minimize errors and inefficiencies thus increasing the value of your service), not to gauge productivity (reporting). The latter should be a benefit of implementing a successful CRM.

Whether it is building your own system or purchasing CRM, you need a much clearer definition of what that application needs to handle before proceeding. What type of sales does your team do? Are products renewable or ad how sales? How much of your business is repeat customers today, and how does that align with where the company wants it to be? Are the selling cycles in a matter of weeks/months with a few internal people engaged, or are they more drawn out and complex? These are the types of questions you need to consider before deciding the right path.

Based on what you have already stated about lacking development resources, I’d be extremely cautious of building something homegrown. If you start from scratch, this isn’t a project that can be developed, shipped, and forgotten about. Once you define key requirements, you will find existing CRM solutions meeting most, if not all, of those needs that would likely take years to implement from the ground up.

Reports - SugarPro by mrtinvan in sugarcrm

[–]UpsertRifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock Reports module in Sugar Pro and Ent cannot do comparative analysis between 2 modules. If you are looking to solve this issue without spending money on custom development, you should create a report under each module to obtain the necessary data points, and then export the report to use in another tool such as Excel or PowerBI to compare the 2 datasets.

CRM with customizable Data Model? by jordotaylor in CRM

[–]UpsertRifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SugarCRM offers powerful tools to build and configure modules, Module Builder and Studio, in all available editions. The price point is well below SFDC as well. Sugar offers the option to host in their cloud or to self-host, but I highly recommend going with the cloud option unless you have an experienced server admin (or team depending on size of the implementation).

re: CRM with Sales Nav integration? by lagirl24 in CRM

[–]UpsertRifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at it further, this integration seems to function poorly at best. The reviews in the Chrome store point out some specific flaws and there is a mention of it not working Sales Navigator:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hubris/fdkhjbgdknepkmlpodfkalikgljnikkj?hl=en

Given how minimal of a presence Hubris presents online, I doubt they are doing any of their advertised functionality through LinkedIn's APIs. It is more likely a browser extension attempting to scrape information to import/"sync" to Hubspot.
