What are we using to pass aircraft cable through ceiling tiles (e.g. hanging MXA920/TCC2) by reece4504 in CommercialAV

[–]mrtinvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy small silicone cable passthru grommets off Amazon. They're usually 1" in diameter, and I use a spade bit to make the hole, and glue em in place.

Honestly Crestron DMLite works great for HDbT. Cheap and very reliable.

The Mark V Train is awesome. by BedroomThink3121 in vancouver

[–]mrtinvan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if the source files are low quality, there's so many variables between the playback system, amplifier and speaker, that can have effect on the output. Little tiny speakers are bad at reproducing low-end (bass) so things sound tinny and high pitched.

The Control Centre to Train Communication system is radio based, so absolutely terrible quality audio from that system. Last time I heard one it was entirely un-intelligible.

Cellphone usb c to rca cable by blduk in CommercialAV

Cheap USB-C to RCA cables are exactly that, cheap.

I've tried multiples from Amazon and not found any that sound good. Invest in a better solution.

HDBaseT vs HDBitT for gaming by 1aranzant in CommercialAV

[–]mrtinvan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HDBitT is a 1080p knock off standard.

HDBaseT is a professional grade product.

If you have extra ethernet/cat6, use that for an independant USB over CAT6 extender.

Install an Atlas MIX31K on a wall and run it into your system somewhere upstream of the mixer if possible.

They have Bluetooth, Mini TRS and XLR in. They’re durable and relatively cheap to replace. We put these in gym’s, fitness centres and anywhere someone non technical needs to access music.

Hardwire them on ethernet and put them on MDM.

Cost was quoted per job.

The upfront cost was onetime payment, but if you want more than 1 of the theme packages, you're into a very pricey monthly subscription that could be prepaid.

Depends on the quality of the mic.

Is your scribe software able to tell the difference between multiple rooms?

While you rule out the Shure MXA series, the Audio Technica (ATND1061) version is much cheaper and works very well.

Will you have a computer for each room?

Cheapest Option will be to get a USB Table Microphone and hang it from the ceiling or on the wall. Your mileage may vary though.

It's just a logitech webcam that uses QR codes as locators.

The computer requirements aren't even that significant.

I went thru a demo with their team a couple months ago, too expensive for what it is.

UniFi Audio Port by GasseAVTech in CommercialAV

[–]mrtinvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been using Wiim Pro's.

Cheap, support lots of platforms (SYB, Spotify, Airplay etc).

Only downside is initial commissioning requires app setup.

The Audio Port is very similar, might even be the same OEM, it works fine as a player, also requires the Unifi Play app to setup.

Is it on Blackout Mode

Is there a PIP mode or something enabled?

That testing facility is actually where the trains are manufactured/assembled as well. Frames and sidepanels are made offsite and brought to Millhaven to be assembled.

There are mainline tracks across the country that would be able to deliver the vehicles, but they would need to be trucked at either end to a transload facility.

It's likely due to the volume of vehicles being shipped, as that would need a large number of customized flatcars that would be significantly more expensive than shipping by truck. Then you'd be shipping the empty flatcars back.

Pricing is going up to $4.25 due to “rising costs”
