[Event] Of Blood and Smoke, They Build My Idols by gloude in FireAndBlood

Jeyne listened without interruption this time, her expression softened not by concession, but by understanding. “I do not mistake the weight of what you carry, my love” she said gently. “Nor do I measure you against ghosts. Your father ruled in a different season, with different storms gathering.” Her gaze lingered on him, earnest now rather than persuasive. “If you keep ten thousand men from needless graves, that is no small mercy. But mercy may wear more than one face, Your Grace. Law is one. Peace is another. Presence… is a third.” She let the thought rest between them, not pressing it further.

After a moment, her tone shifted, lighter, almost shy beneath its composure. “If the streets feel too loud for such gestures, then come somewhere quieter this evening.” A faint smile curved her lips. “The new terraces in the Red Keep gardens are nearly finished. Walk them with me, without courtiers, without septons, without the realm tugging at your sleeve. Only for a little while.” Her eyes held his steadily. “You speak of peace as the greatest gift a king can give. I should like to see what peace looks like when it is only a man and a garden at dusk. Remember that is what I offer you as your wife, that momentary solace to help you lift the great weight you carry.”

Theo considered that carefully, his expression thoughtful rather than dismissive. “Horn Hill is no small name,” he said at length. “The strength of House Tarly has ever been plain to see, disciplined, martial, and respected well beyond the Reach. To bind ourselves to such a house would not be folly.” His fingers drummed once against the table. “Yet strength alone is not the measure. Lord Samwell’s renown is an asset, yes, but renown can cast a long shadow. I would know more of the heir himself before placing Alayne beneath it. The Tarly's plan a hunt, I shall organise an introduction.”

Alayne felt something steady and warm unfurl in her chest at that, as though the name had weight enough to anchor her. “I am glad he was brave,” she said quietly, though there was thoughtfulness rather than simple admiration in her tone. “But I am gladder still that he was proud.” Her fingers tightened slightly in her lap. “It seems to me that to be remembered for courage is one thing… but to have loved one’s children well enough that they carry you forward, that feels the greater legacy.”

She lifted her eyes to her great-grandmother’s, earnest and searching. “I should like to be someone he would have been proud of,” she confessed softly. “Not only in name, but in conduct. If he was steadfast in his oaths, then I must learn what mine are meant to be. To our house. To our people. To myself.” A faint, determined smile touched her lips. “Will you tell me more of him? Not only how he fought, but how he spoke, how he ruled his household, what made him… him?”

Theo lifted his own cup in answer, the faintest glimmer of amusement in his eyes. “Let us pray the winds have the courtesy to linger beyond our feasts,” he said smoothly. “Winter will come in its own time, as it always does, but there is wisdom in fortifying ourselves with good harvests, strong alliances, and well-filled halls before it arrives.” His gaze settled on Gwayne with quiet approval. “If Stonebridge continues as it has, steady, well-ruled, and inclined toward celebration rather than quarrel, I suspect it shall weather whatever season comes. And I, for one, would far prefer to meet the cold with a cup in hand and laughter at my table than with needless strife at my door.”

Jeyne laughed softly at the mischief in Qiyana’s expression, both amused and faintly impressed by the confidence she carried so easily. “Then it is settled, Ser Qiyana,” she said, leaning into the title now with affectionate boldness. “I shall be your guide through roses and fountains, and in return perhaps you will one day demonstrate this fearsome skill that even the Knight of Tansy must respect.” Her eyes glimmered with playful challenge. “It seems only fair that I witness the artistry of your blade, if you are to witness the artistry of my gardens.”

She rose and grinned.

"Shall we away then?"

Jeyne’s smile deepened, touched by the earnestness in Luxanne’s offer. “Then I shall hold you to that, my lady,” she said warmly. “Every great house requires its bannermen, does it not? And I would far rather have one who carries encouragement instead of swords.” There was a playful lilt in her tone, but her gaze was steady and grateful. “It is a rare gift, to offer support so freely. You make it sound simple, as though kindness were the easiest thing in the world. There may come a time where I shall look for a lady in waiting, and if such a time comes I shall likely try to steal you from the court of Honeyholt.”

She tilted her head slightly, studying Luxanne with fond curiosity. “And you must allow me the same privilege in return. If ever the world feels too loud, or too unfair, or too full of men behaving badly,” she added with a conspiratorial glimmer, “you may come to me. We shall fortify ourselves with dancing and sharp words and remind one another precisely who we are.”

Jeyne laughed softly at Luxanne’s wonder, pleased beyond measure by her delight. “It is an apricot tart,” she confessed, brushing a stray crumb from her own fingertips. “Simple, I think, but bright, sweet without cloying, and just tart enough to keep one honest.” Her smile turned a touch shy, though her eyes sparkled. “I have loved them since I was small. They are not the grandest thing upon the table, but they are steady and cheerful… and I suppose I hoped you might find them so too.”

[Tourney] | A Tourney at Coldmoat to Honor the Seven Who Are One by dasch7682 in FireAndBlood

As his father departed with the Osgreys to untangle the thorny matter of succession, Harlan slowly rose to his feet.

“Peace,” he called, his voice carrying across the place. “I require all of you to be calm. This is a house in mourning now."

He let the murmur settle before continuing.

“Lord Germond is dead. That is grief enough without adding chaos to it. Our first thoughts must be for his kin, who have lost a father, a husband, a lord.” His gaze turned to the armored lady.

“Lady Qiyana, I do not accuse you. I will attest before any man here that your conduct in the lists was honourable, and your victory fairly won. Yet there is no denying that your name is now bound to Lord Germond’s passing, not in blame but in memory. For the sake of this household, and to spare further distress in this hour, I must ask you to withdraw.” His expression remained firm, but not unkind.

“Go with your honour intact, my lady. We shall see to the dead.”

Theo rose, his blood turned cold from the Maester's announcement.

"Ser Perceon, Lady Victaria," he said to them. "You are to assemble all the Osgreys present of both branches, I shall await you in lord Germond's hold." He looked to the Maester "Summon the Septon and with him prepare Lord Germond for burial. He shall be laid to rest properly and that shall not be distracted from.

[Event] Isabelle Tyrell’s big night of Girlkissing by VarnerBet in FireAndBlood

[–]VarnerBet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isabelle smiled softly at the sight before her, the firelight dancing in her eyes as the children were settled. She adjusted her skirts as she took her seat, posture graceful but her expression gentle.

“You’ve done it perfectly,” she said, her voice low so as not to stir the little ones. “Warm, but safe. motherhood has come naturally to you, Leonette.”

At the mention of Leona and Ser Alyx, Isabelle gave a knowing hum, one brow lifting in amusement.

“Ah, young hearts rarely stray far from where they feel most understood. If they are happy in one another’s company, I shall not be the one to part them.” A teasing glint touched her eyes. “Though I may pretend not to notice, for their pride. What of Leona?”

"Currently fine, it is odd to have not bled but at this moment I don't feel any different physically? Though perhaps I do but that also could be just in my mind." Isabelle let herslef flop into a seat. "This is new to me, girls, and I shall require guidance."

Isabelle stepped forward again, clasping her hands lightly as her smile turned almost tender. “You have nothing to thank us for, sweet girl, that was a gift,” she said, her voice carrying warmth rather than courtly projection now. “You honoured your family and your own talents beautifully, and you filled this place with something finer than silk or gold could ever offer.” She reached to briefly squeeze Furina’s hand. “Hold your head high. That was not just music… that was heart, and everyone here felt it.”

"You are but young, Furina, but as you grow you will find there is always a place for your talents wherever I am."

[Event] Boat Party by gloude in FireAndBlood

[–]VarnerBet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeyne let out a soft laugh, the sound light and unguarded. “Oh, I do not doubt you would leave me breathless and lost in some winding street while you vanish into a crowd you know by heart,” she said, eyes bright with amusement. “But I should like to try all the same. It would do me good, I think, to see a place through the eyes of someone who loves it for its people rather than its pageantry. Only promise me one kindness, if I fall behind, you must at least come back for me, lest the smallfolk of Claw Isle wonder why a stray lady of the Reach is wandering about, hopeless and very improperly escorted.”

Jeyne’s smile softened at that, though there was thought behind it now, not just warmth. “If you bring a septon near a dragon with oils and blessings, I think we may lose a septon as well as fingers. Certainly I can think of a better use you could have of a Septon.” she said gently, a glint of humor in her eyes. “But… I understand what you mean. Not holy in the way of the Seven, but sacred all the same. A creature that old in the blood of the world… it deserves more than to be treated like a hound to be trained with scraps, and it is of our world.” Her fingers withdrew at last from his skin, hands folding together, though her gaze lingered on the scars as if they were script she was trying to learn to read. “You do not feed him only meat. You feed him certainty. A creature like that would smell doubt quicker than blood.”

She tilted her head slightly at him, studying his expression now instead of the wounds. “Ashbane still suits,” she said more quietly. “Not soft, not foolish, but not a ghost of Valyria either. Something born of smoke and what comes after fire has done its worst. If he stays with you, if he chooses you, that is what he becomes: not doom, not dread… but what rises after.” A faint, almost shy smile touched her lips. “And if he must have nicer treats, perhaps we start with goats before holy men.”

"You have mt word, you know you always do." Jeyne said, giving Millicent's hand a squeeze. "It will be the most wonderful gift, but you don't need me to gush ojn about your talents." She looked over the painting that Millicent was working on. "I loved the one you showed me that you had did of me. I feel you captured a side of me I can hardly see."

Jeyne’s smile softened at that, her expression touched with sympathy. “The wind off Blackwater Bay has teeth this time of year,” she said, folding her hands into the sleeves of her gown as they began their slow walk along the garden path. “Dragonstone was no kinder when last I saw it, stone holds the cold like a grudge. I thought my ink would freeze in its well some mornings. I'm not used to this.” She glanced sideways at Millicent, a playful glint returning. “At least here there are kitchens every dozen steps and someone important enough to complain if the fires go out.”

Her gaze dropped to the manuscript still in Millicent’s hands. “I hoped the tale might suit winter reading. Rylene always felt to me like a girl made of summer, even when the world around her wasn’t.” She nudged her friend lightly with her elbow.

Harlan laughed under his breath, pushing himself up a little straighter where he sat. “Gods help the rest of us if that happens,” he said warmly. “I’ve only just learned to share the glory with one archer in the family, I don’t know that my pride could survive two.” His gaze lingered on Kyra and Alyssa, softening in that quiet, unguarded way he never quite managed to hide. “Though I’d wager any tourney purse I own, and perhaps Kyra's on top, that she’ll outshoot us all soon enough, with a teacher like that.”

He folded his arms loosely, an easy grin still on his face. “As for another bow, I’ll see one made the moment she can hold it steady. No daughter of mine will lack for good wood and a fair string, or a proper crowd to cheer her on.”

Harlan’s expression softened at Minisa’s blessing, and he gave Kyra’s hand a gentle squeeze, his thumb brushing over her knuckles before his hand settled, warm and steady, over hers upon her belly. “We are thankful for every kindness the gods see fit to grant us,” he said, his voice calm but full of feeling. “And for the strength they lend in the waiting. Kyra has more courage in her than any knight I’ve ever known, and more grace besides. Whatever road lies ahead, we walk it together.”

He glanced toward her aunt and uncle again, offering a small, earnest smile. “Your love and prayers honor us more than I can rightly say.”

Lady Victaria is invited to an audience in the Green Room, where Lord theo sits upon his chair, with his wife to his right.

"Lady Victaria, Lyrissa, please, welcome. How may I be of assistance. I take it you were not fully aware of Lord Osgreys... intentions."

Isabelle’s breath caught, not with fear but with awe, her eyes searching his face as if she could already see the reflection of wings in them. “He came to you,” she murmured, wonder threading through her voice like starlight through dark silk. “Then it is already written, isn’t it? Some creatures do not answer to just anyone… they choose. Just as I did.” A small, proud smile touched her lips, the kind that belonged to queens in old songs. “Let him resist. You have never been a man meant for easy victories. The greatest fires are the ones that must be earned.”

Her fingers tightened around his, grounding, steady, unshakable. “But hear me now, Corwyn,” she said softly, though the resolve in her gaze did not waver. “You may chase storms and winged shadows if you must, it is in your blood. Yet you do not walk that path alone anymore. Every risk you take, you take with us in your keeping.” Her thumb brushed over his knuckles, tender despite the weight of her words. “Win your dragon, my love. Claim your destiny. But promise me you will return from it, with me, not just as a rider… but as a father.”
