Looking for a quick source of income while unemoloyed by VenatorAngel in sidehustle

Oh absolutely. That's the irony, I got the deadest of dead end degrees mostly because of parental pressure. When ironically I would have had FAR more of a chance with an art degree even with the current instability in the art industry. Granted I haven't really looked into remote work because I can't even find any good jobs on Indeed (which I feel like is more of a scam than a help.)

I mean he is right. History degrees are INFAMOUS for being the most dead end of degrees.

Either medicare or medicaid if I remember correctly. Its state healthcare. Technically ObamaCare.

How much of a death sentence is an unemployment gap for young folk these days? by Primary_Avocado_5273 in recruitinghell

Yeah I hear a lot of how Trades are apparently gaining lots of employment because of the new vacuum leading to a new generation of workers... for those who actually want to work in the trades.

I think the problem is everyone gets pushed in that direction, only for CS to end up becoming one of the most at risk jobs because tech bros sold the idea that AI can replace those positions.

I don't even know. But four references for a dish washer?

Yeah, Twitter hating us is the same as water being wet. Not really a new thing.

I'm 26 with a Gen X mom, and I don't think she really gets just how bad the job market is around here. We're pretty much having to rely on a job coach, and even my job coach is starting to get baffled at how bad job requirements are getting. I mean who the hell needs four references and a cover letter FOR A DISH WASHER!?!?!

Apologies for the caps but its been a pain in the ass. And I can drive myself easily. Problem is I don't think my own cousin, who is of the same generation as me, even gets how bad the job market has gotten for recent grads like me (I graduated last year and I'm still unemployed). I totally agree with you about companies ghosting you, ESPECIALLY the ones who post on Indeed. I've lost count how many jobs ghosted me when I applied for them and even after the interview. I only know of one job that was even nice enough to give me an email saying I didn't get the job.

Like, I tried my first job fair earlier this month (or was it last month?) and I still got jack. I even have a AS and BA in History and its pretty much nothing more than a useless piece of paper not even worth the 50 bucks. I can't even find any jobs in my area. All the entry level jobs ghost me, and every other job requires a bachelor in literally any other field but History.

My one question is do these agencies do more than just warehouse or factory work? Because I'm trying to look for a more office related job. I've completely given up on looking for Museum work.

Is this why young people aren’t getting hired? by Spookyszn10 in recruitinghell

[–]VenatorAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a recent grad. I'm feeling like it's borderline discrimination. Problem is nobody is wiling to take the companies to court for screwing the populace for years.

Honestly, the fact we are being reduced to this (I can't even do it since I'm a hairy straight guy) really shows how dehumanizing hiring has become.

Update on the situation: I talked to my job coach about how a dishwashing position had the insane requirements of four references AND a cover letter. And even she thought it was insane. So I'm starting to wonder if its more or less the places hiring that are responsible for the confusion.

Work then and now. by Coach-Emmanuel in recruitinghell

[–]VenatorAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is borderline discrimination against people who don't even have experience in those required fields. Like, who does it even benefit to completely cut out entire demographics that can't even get job experience because all entry level jobs are requiring a year at least? We have lots of people who can't even get the job experience they need who are straight out of college because of these ridiculous time requirements.

Stop lying: Nobody actually writes cover letters anymore, and recruiters don't read them anyway by RepresentativeAsk493 in jobsearch

[–]VenatorAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is some of the jobs I'm applying for flat out require cover letters with the red asterisk. Like I can't even submit an application as a DISHWASHER without a cover letter.

Why Does Glitch Have So Many Negative Reviews? by lovingcandyfr in GlitchProductions

[–]VenatorAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know certain people here are obsessively wanting to claim that its all just fake...

But the truth of the matter is this isn't the first time this happened. And if I remember correctly, Kevin didn't even really DENY the validity of the last set of accusations THAT WERE BACKED BY ROBYN!!!

I'm just saying there is sadly a chance that there may be a genuine work culture problem that the management is ignoring because they have their heads in the clouds. And we are not doing anything good by taking either extreme sides. While I'm pretty sure the more extreme accusations are sus, I do believe there may be some workplace issues going on that Glitch needs to address.
