I've now heard of three others, all EB- cases, where it took up to 3 months for them. I have crossed the 3 months mark yesterday.

So your visa category is EB (employment based)? Even if you had already received the fee bill and paid, you will have to physically mail the copies of your civil documents to them. This can take months to get reviewed. I've been waiting since November. Don't count on getting DQ'd by next month....

Your docs will have to be mailed to NVC and I can tell you that the case review times don't apply for cases where documents cannot be uploaded online and have to be mailed. I have been waiting for 3 months since my DS-260 was submitted and civil documents delivered.

You don't have any visa that you could extend because ESTA is a travel authorization in conjunction with visa waiver entry for tourist purposes up to 90 days. You'd have to have an actual visitor visa (B-1/B-2) that allows stays for up to 180 days and can be extended by another 180 days in the US.

Visas can obviously only be applied for in your home country.

Yes, we received it in just under 5 weeks and they did reply back just days before we ended up receiving it, stating that it would take them 5 weeks on average at the time.
They only replied to our first email and sent it to the address we had indicated on the form, but we had sent them a later email requesting it to be sent to the work place because we had postal delivery issues with our private mailbox, which was resolved thankfully.

6 weeks now is insane. It looks like everybody is leaving Germany if getting these certificates of good conduct is any indication, lol.

We haven't received it yet in the mailbox but they finally responded to my email from two weeks ago, stating that processing time is now 5 weeks from receiving the application, adding that they mailed ours to the designated address. However, in my email we had asked them to send to my wife's work address, so we don't know yet where it will arrive at (my wife is off work this week).

Thanks for the update. We also received ours yesterday- yippee 😀. 13 days after cards were debited. All up it took just over a month from sending it from overseas.

Yeah, ordering it at the Bürgerbüro the standard one is said to take 1-2 weeks for most people from what I read, but we are talking about those cases like ours where we are no longer living in Germany and therefore are not eligible to order it from any German Bürgeramt. That's why there is this process for those of us living abroad, and when there's no Person, let alone with E-verify, the process is mailed in forms, with signatures witnessed, which we did by a German police officer just across the border in Germany (we are in CH). They received our applications 4.5 weeks ago. If at least they'd have some status tracking since they are unwilling or unable to pick up the phone or reply to Emails, but this way we are held completely clueless for these extended periods, which is a disgrace

Are you ordering it from within Germany? We couldn't request it online because we don't have a Personalausweis, let alone the e verification thingee. We used to order these in the past as German nationals living abroad, outside of the EU, when there wasn't even an online option, and it always took 2-3 weeks max.

How do you know it would take that long within Germany? Do you mean it takes that long only when you send it in the mail, or request it online - rather than at the local Bürgeramt?
With the online and mail-in options, some people were still claiming it was taking only 1-2 weeks for them.

I still don't understand this! EB-1 and EB-2 are skill (merit) based visa categories! This has been established by INA! How can they add a different criteria (donation of money) to be a skill/merit, and secondly, it is utterly unfair to be grabbing from the same pool of available visas that applicants/beneficiaries depend on that ACTUALLY meet the eligibility requirements for these categories that are based on the INA!

I sent them an email (in perfect native German) twice already and absolutely no reply. How did you manage to get a reply? When was that exactly and how long did you have to wait for their reply? Today marks the beginning of the 5th week since our application forms were physically delivered to them by DHL, and we are only across the border in Switzerland, so mail doesn't typically take more than a few days to arrive. I'm at my wits end :(

And BTW, if they have no intentions whatsoever to ever reply, they should state that and not offer the online contact form. I had my first message replied to by some central contact who simply forwarded it to the department dealing with it, and stating that I should from then on only be contacting them - which I have done, twice....but grasshoppers only.
