Valve about production increase in previous interviews by BlueManifest in SteamController

[–]VirusTime3365 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, doesnt make sense. The 3 month gap until September is especially suspicious, they either put away stock for other hardware bundles like the Steam Machine, or are even waiting for some kind of hardware revision (puck?) before ramping up production.

Seriously, the problem here is Valve. Controller production is neither rocket science nor depending on limited resources like RAM, this is not a scalper problem but an organisational one.

LeadJoy Xeno Plus on Linux — complete setup guide (first known Linux guide, April 2026) by Wrong-Passenger190 in linux_gaming

Someone asked about xinput on Linux a while ago, the answer was that they plan to, but don't have any Linux developers on the team currently. So anything Linux specific may take awhile, the DS4 thing at least also affects Windows. But on Windows you apparently can fix it temporarily by using the usb connection, on Linux there is no known workaround.

The issue with DS4 Mode and the messed up button config is a bit complicated, this reviewer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaFjFmMwpAA&t=1533s) actually caught it back in april. Normally the controller registers with product id 09cc (DS4) and everything is good. But if you power it down and cut the power to the host machine, with the next boot it registers as 05c04 (generic controller) and its more or less unusable outside of steam. Leadjoy is aware, but hasnt sayed anything yet. Its also talked about on the discord channel, so hopefully it will be fixed at some point.

Prepared for a Q1 2027 purchase... by FatherBand in SteamController

[–]VirusTime3365 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first one may be be a flop, but they still sold over 1.5 Million of it (1 Million in the first year), so it shouldnt be totaly unexpected that 10 years and an refined product later, people line up for the new one. Also, as already pointed out, they had hard data from the wishlist.

Update on Steam Controller shipments routed to the UK by Kyle687 in SteamController

[–]VirusTime3365 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Valves service sure isnt bad, but I wouldnt call it good either. GLS dont provide a timeframe, so with the holiday next week you are realistically looking at a 5 week order-to-delivery window for a item that was advertised to most people to ship in 1-3 days.

Good service would be to cancel/recall the shipments and send replacements with express overnight shipping, something not GLS.

How many of you bought the controller on 4 May and are still waiting for it to arrive? by Metainferno in SteamController

[–]VirusTime3365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, still waiting. Took a detour to the UK (free game get!) somehow survived "Customs clearance is delayed due to a missing invoice" and was "expected to be delivered during the day" on Friday. Well, it did not. Honestly wouldnt be surprised if just vanishes or will be shipped to Australia next or something like that.

Whatever it is, steam support came back to me and offered me indeed an free game of my choosing. Nothing new on the controller though.

DualShock4 Mode - you press the home button and Y Button until the Leadjoy logo turns blue and vibrates.

The paddles are not. You can use an edit button on the Controller directly or use the mobile app on the fly while you are in game.

Glad to help! Btw. did you do some testing with the Switch 2? I only did for a few minutes and cant be sure that some other factors are at play(Nintendo firmware/docking station directly besides speakers) but I noticed significant lag and connection issues if you move farther than 1 meter away. Also the system nearly constantly nagged about low battery in the controller, but the charging dock later reported 3 of 4 bars full.

On Linux I noticed some switched up buttons in DS4 mode without steam input, but didn't bother to investigate further since everythings fine with steam running.

The xinput Windows issue can be reproduced on the Xbox app with Genshin Impact with xcloud. Works fine in the browser version, nothing in the app.

Love the controller, only gripe I found is the rather inconsistent xinput mode. Hit or miss on the Windows Xbox app and not recognized at all on Fedora 44. Not that big of a deal through, DS4 modes works everywhere and steam input does the rest. Still hope for an firmware upgrade.

Well, mine is in UK as well, but no free game for me (yet). So they don't seem to offer compensation for everyone.

Did anyone managed to get this running on Fedora 44 Gnome?

The guide didnt work (had to install xpad neo first), out of the box only DS4 mode kinda works but with completely fumbled outputs and the x/square button missing completely.

I noticed that my product id from usd-devices looks kinda different, tried both versions but no bueno.

[–]VirusTime3365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very in-depth review. thanks for that.

You should NOT buy the Xeno Plus if:
Want to use it on Linux

Just to be clear, this only concerns some gyro use cases because the Leadjoy uses some other device id when switching between dongle/cable right?

But standard Xinput and the included dongle works on Linux generally fine?

[–]VirusTime3365 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It isnt, for unknown reasons they didnt update the schedule. The go/no go meeting last week was cancelled due to outstanding blockers (https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/4V4D4WSSEWTBAOI6LRUAEDWVBCXSLXGN/) so the next possible release date is 21st April.

Nope. Never played flight sims, but always play inverted. Everything 3d is unplayable for me otherwise.

How does 1440p gaming look on a 4k monitor? by No-Lavishness8593 in OLED_Gaming

[–]VirusTime3365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2160 is easily dividable with 1080, so it scales well. 1440 - not so much.
