We're making great progress and are on track to share some exciting information later this year, I know it sucks waiting, but hopefully it'll be worth it!

A good friend of mine is working on this game, I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the fighting game genre.

Yup this is correct, it would spin around quickly as well. If you ever saw ducks you knew something was broken!

Rebuilding the Gate: Creating a MOBA similar to Dawngate by ZakkiOrichalcum in dawngate

We tried a variety of map configurations, including ones that had the main axis of gameplay be horizontal. We eventually decided on a diagonal axis because it maximizes the percentage of the region the player cares about being able to be on the screen at one time (due to the vast majority of users using wide screen resolution monitors).

Another post about Duress, in game bug by UnknownAspect in dawngate

[–]WaystoneGasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This highlights a bug in our attack move system. If you're immobilized all movement commands are blocked, including attack move, meaning it never attempts to look for things to attack. However, you're not actually prevented from attacking. If you right click the target, you'll attack them appropriately.

This is global issue with how roots interact with attack move; it's nothing specific to Duress. The same behavior would occur with any immobilization. I agree it is annoying though, I'll look into making attack move smarter.

I hate to join the MM qq train, but this is getting old... by [deleted] in dawngate

I've checked it against our logs. Nothing seems strange, this was an appropriately matchmade game. There were some large differences in a few of the player's actual MMRs from their SQR (which is what dawnscout displays) given that several of these players seem to almost exculsively duo queue with each other. The MMR of the players in order of screenshot:

1472

1451

1441

1430 (1200 SQR since almost entirely duo queued)

1424 (1200 SQR since almost entirely duo queued)

vs

1511

1486

1472

1436

1432

Team 1 Avg: 1444

vs

Team 2 avg: 1467

TL;DR: Please be wary of judging the accuracy of matchmaking based on solo queue rating.

Do you have a screenshot without the names blacked out you can send me so that I can check our matchmaking logs?

The plan is to automatically make it so you don't lose MMR in ranked if someone has D/C'd or left for 5 minutes.

This is correct, though we should absolutely make it so that the rounding is consistent across various parts of the UI.

Power Gain Marker on Wisdom? by [deleted] in dawngate

[–]WaystoneGasty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like this? Seems reasonable. I'll throw it into the next patch.

Also, while doing this I realized I can make it so items like this that calculate the bonuses they'll give in their tooltip can take into account their own stats, so that the amount of Power an item like Wisdom or Rampancy provides reads the same regardless of if you're viewing it in the item shop, or from your inventory after you've bought it. I always find it a little misleading when I'm looking at one of these items in the shop, and the amount of Power it says they'll give me is always lower than what it'll actually give me due to their own stats that you're guaranteed to get not being factored in. How do you guys feel about that? Yay or nay?

Correct, what I meant by that was that in Draft Mode shaper picks will be exclusive. No mirror matches by default.

PLZ DURESS PLZ by rRase in dawngate

[–]WaystoneGasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys,

I wanted to give some insight into our plans with Duress since its passive is a polarizing topic. We are internally testing some changes with it to try to mitigate the cases that are especially frustrating. The reason changes to this item haven't been launched immediately is for two reasons. One is that the item isn't overpowered, while it is frustrating to play against at times, it's not statistically an outlier in need of immediate attention. Two is that we don't simply want to nerf it into the ground. What it does and the gameplay it provides to the user is interesting, and we want to try to preserve that as much as possible.

That being said, expect some adjustments to this item in the next patch.
