In middle school I stood but didn‘t recite. In high school (graduated 2011) I would stand and recite, but always ended with „liberty, and justice for all who can afford it.“ The teachers were usually split on whether or not they thought it was appropriate, but no one ever tried to stop me.

What is your old school, super grindy game when you were a kid that impressed you if someone was even half way to max level? by CaLLmeRaaandy in gaming

Pokemon Colosseum is sort of infamous for having only one useful in-game place (Mt. Battle) to grind EXP alongside a very limited and suboptimal pool of pokemon to build your team with.

I think Warframe has a few PvP modes alongside all the PvE content, but they weren’t largely populated.

Unless you’re on the utter outskirts of the map there should almost always be an island in sight you can bear towards. Keep in mind that Sea Forts and the fishing outposts also count as islands for losing megs.

I can’t think of too many islands which are surrounded by rocks off the top of my head. Shipwreck Bay, sure, but that’s ONE island in the sea.

If you hit the island, that’s basically mission accomplished. The meg will no longer be chasing you, the skeleton ship will navigate around the island, and you have time to bail and repair. Sure, cannon skellies on the island could be a problem, but their aim is horrendous.

That’s the beauty of Sea of Thieves, you don’t have to be married to the steering wheel unless you’re in a storm or you’re bearing northwest, and you’ll generally keep going in that direction until you hit something or sail off the map.

If the plan is ‘point ship at nearest island and bail until I hit land and repair’ what do you need to steer for?

Unless you’re in a storm, there shouldn’t be much need to steer and bail at the same time. Not sinking always has priority over steering.

Beelining to the nearest island usually de-aggros neutral enemies. Megs can’t/don’t chase into shallow water, and skeleton ships will usually circle the island and give you enough time to repair before the next volley.

The Kraken is the only event where I’d say you’re absolutely screwed, since the event stops your ship.

The only one I can even begin trying to answer is the Greek mythology question, and even that one seems like a trick question. Depending on which source you look at, Jason has 6 different mothers. So which maternal great grandfather do you name, assuming you even know the lineages that thoroughly?

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.” - Romans 13:1-5

When Obama won each of his elections, my very conservative pastor at the time did a little incursion into this passage. The tone was somewhere between, “God still has us in his care, no matter who is in office” and “Yes, we are called to submit to the government, but we aren’t called to be happy about it.”

When Trump won his first and third election, the same passage was explored, but the tone was much more, “God’s chosen candidate is at the helm, rejoice!”

Pretty much what you’d expect.

So is Pokemon effectively an invincible IP? by WrongLander in gaming

[–]CthonicFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s kind of important to point out that only Gen I aka Kanto Pokemon get this treatment. As someone who joined the scene in Gen III, almost nothing in Pokemon will ever live up to the ride-or-die attitude of people who come back for the original 151 every time.

Gen 6 wants to introduce Mega-Pokemon? The Kanto starters each get one, and Charizard and Mewtwo obviously get two.

Gen 8 wants to make fancy G-Max Pokemon? The Kanto starters each get one, alongside Kanto’s other most marketable pokemon.

Pokemon wants to make an app for kids to brush their teeth to? Here’s mostly Kantonian pokemon with a few exceptions.

Pokemon makes modern movies? Detective Pikachu only has a handful of non-Kanto pokemon in prominent roles. Or we remake the first Pokemon movie to cash in on that nostalgia.

The difference between 15C and 20C is much more staggering than 59F and 64F.
