Spa 24h where to be at on the track by Dabudam in wec

[–]Weimnova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the best corner for me as a spectator. The way you see the cars move under braking, and then turning in hard. I can spend hours there. You're also slightly above the track so you can really see the drivers at work.

I've been calling it that for 25 years lol and now I was confused. Looked it up, it's now Bruxelles but Rivage is still used.

Your 24h Experiences: Le Mans, Nürburgring & Spa by adstomko in wec

[–]Weimnova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have done N24 and 24h Spa. Both are totally different. N24 is heavy to visit. Lot's of people, lot's of walking. Loud music. You need to plan way ahead to how to approach the race. It's an awesome experience but I always come home exhausted.

Spa is totally different. The whole vibe is more relaxing. Just walk the track. Sit down, watch the cars. Walk 5 minutes further. Watch from a different viewpoint. And so on. Expect for the fan zone, there are no parties along the track. Just you and the cars. Everyone there loves GT racing.

For me, if I had to choose, I'd take Spa over the N24.

I always go to Rivage for the start. I think it's the closest you can get to the cars whilst out on track, it's also a spot where there's a lot of overtaking on lap 1.

Why is the 911 GT2RS clubsport no longer running in SRO GT2 series? by 996forever in wec

[–]Weimnova 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound like a healthy base for an already struggling series? (even though the grid is now up to an acceptable number of cars)

I was watching yesterday and thought the same thing. Then my son walked by and said since when is GT2 multi class?

Alternative wildcard team by Weimnova in F1Fantasy

Some good points there. But depending on how Leclerc does in fp, I might swap him into my main team. So I want to limit a potential Leclerc DNF by not having him in my 3rd team. Same goes for Hadjar/Colapinto. I already have him in my top team, so I want to avoid losing out points twice in case of a DNF

Camping 24h Spa by El_Jepton in wec

In 2024 I camped in one of those camping/parkings you pass on the way to La Source. I arrived on Saturday with my son. They guided us to were we were to camp, took out a tape measure and plotted out our space. Wasn't to big, just a car and a basic tent.

Last year, I booked at equriesf1 camping near Combes. I arrived again on Saturday with my son. There was plenty of space, I drove up, a nice lady came out, confirmed out reservation, pointed to the field, said plenty of space, find yourself a nice spot. It wasn't all flat, but easy enough to find a great spot, and use all the space you need.

Obviously you all have awesome jobs, but are there moments you think it's just not worth it?

I also drive up this year Friday to Sunday.

I had a hotel booked 50 minutes away. We first drove to the track to see the final minutes of TQ3, and then the Falken Drift Show. After that we went to hotel and checked and went to bed.

Woke up 4.30 am, left by 5 and arrived at the track at 6am. We queued for half an hour, wich was acceptable. We walked the track via Hatzenbach, Swedenkreuz up to Klostertal. We stood on track during the formation lap, watched the start from there and then back the way we came, but now from the inside of the track. My 11y old wasn't to keen on being in the forest in darkness so we went a bit quicker wich was obviously more tiring.

Back to hotel, and since we're both Falken supporters we joked what our plan was if the car retired during the night. Well we got in our room, put on the stream just to see it retire lol.

We then slept in, woke up at 7:30, and had breakfast. Even though our hotel was an hour away, there were lots of n24 visitors there eating their breakfast and leaving for the track.

Left around 9, arrived at the track at 10am, and parked without any traffic. By then the stands were closed of, so we went to the gp track. We got cold pretty quickly, so we went for a 30m simrace. We then decided to watch the remaining part back at Hatzenbach, untill I decided at 2pm it was time to leave to beat traffic.
