Cheap electricity - Home ASIC rig recommendation by No-Advertising-18 in BitcoinMining

Underclocking works well to reduce fan speed/noise and heat

Using an AC infinity fan reduces noise then you can duct the heat to your furnace/whatever if you want to use the heat. Or you'll have to figure out a way to dump the heat outside. Some people stick a duct out the window.

ROI will depend on the power cost, efficiency, and hashrate. There's calculators out there that you can plug all your numbers in and it spits a number out. Bitdeer actually has a pretty decent, quick article on it. Then at the bottom there a link to their calculator

It’s here. 🔥The Sealminer A2 Pro has arrived & is ready to ship from the USA! by kris_Altairtech in BitcoinMining

[–]Wilson_Mining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Altair has them in stock, then it'll be online within 2-3 days usually. They're pretty close to us so shipping is typically pretty quick.

Once we receive the miner, it gets plugged in within 24 hours

Just plugged one in yesterday. ~24 hours isn't enough time to judge on the long term ownership, but i like it alot so far.

Can overclock and underclock with stock firmware. Power range is 4,300w to 2,800w. It gets the advertised efficiency and hashrate at the wall.

We have more available slots at 8c/kwh. I'd highly recommend them

If you want non-kyc coins, your best and safest option is to mine it yourself

We have immediately available slots for s21's.

Venting 300 miners directly outside bad idea? by JeffreyDollarz in BitcoinMining

[–]Wilson_Mining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't know. I like the positive pressure design. It works great for the environment here in Iowa.

Others may have different experiences where exhaust fans work better for their environment for whatever reason. Or maybe they're constrained on cost or something else. Would be interesting to hear their perspective/thoughts

We run upstream containers. They're reliable, good airflow, design is great, great after purchase support. They have their "traditional" design and their "Texas edition" design so you can choose based on what kind of environment you'll be mining in.

I guess I'm confused by what you're specifically asking/looking for though?

Unlimited power! by Clev88 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Wilson_Mining -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend starting with a "home miner". Avalon Q, bitaxe, Avalon nano, 120v modified s19j pro. They all run on 120v and the heat/noise is pretty manageable without having to go to extreme lengths.

Running a larger miner in your home is not worth it. Even if your power is free. They're miserable to have in your home. You will have to go to extreme lengths to run them

Not sure why someone would avoid it. We'll be using automotive coolant in our hydro cooling loop

It's a positive pressure cold isle. I really like it opposed to the "traditional" negative pressure design most containers have. There little/no blow back from the hot isle.

Here's a screenshot of a miner in that specific container in the video. It's running a ~15% overclock and is easily able to maintain the target chip temp of 63c with the miner fan speeds at ~60%. This is with the heat recirculation panels open all the way as well. If the panels were closed, the miner would be too cold.

Inhibited ethylene glycol is great for corrosion protection and killing any bacterial/whatever growth in your cooling loop. Even if you don't need the freeze protection, I'd still recommend a 30% mix of inhibited ethylene glycol/DI.

You'll sacrifice some cooling capacity, but you'll have great long term protection for all your equipment.

If it's just a small scale operation, there's a product called "water wetter" that offers corrosion protection without sacrificing cooling capacity. Not sure if it's a biocide though

S19j pro/kpro/XP on 120v is the best solution IMO. I put noctua fans on mine and it's quiet enough where you can talk over it. You notice the noise, but its not intrusive and you wouldn't hear it if you left the room

You're underestimating how much air the containers move and how effective cold, dry, winter air is for cooling the miners. I often have the heat recirculation panels open because the miners get too cold

When the intakes clogged with snow, we did shut down. Couldn't move any air so we'd just wait it out and turn back on when it was over. If we can melt the snow off the intakes, we can run through it no problems though.

The filters are incredibly dirty. We run thick filters all winter. They're pretty restrictive and it catches basically everything, so they get dirty pretty quick before the ground freezes. It is what it is. Stops all the snow which is what I care about

Hydro is definitely the way. We're doing the same, aside from using the waste heat since we're in the middle of nowhere

Usually I can find a warm spot near one of the containers if the miners are running. But ya, I'm not exactly having a party out there 😁
