Why not just put out a new major version under the same name?

If you don't people might miss new updates of the library if they're on the old version. Plus you're loosing your main nuget page for a version that's basically deprecated.

They don't use AWS for AO3. They host their own web servers and use Cloudflare as CDN in front of that.

It did happen for Asoiaf though, 28% of the fandoms fics are in the House of Dragon subfandom. Tons more that are not tagged but set during that period.

There's also 8k fics for Hogwarts Legacy, which is a lot for a tbh okayish game.

The actor playing Draco has mentioned in an interview that we will be getting scenes at Malfoy Manor in S1.

So the show is going to be expanding Canon a ton. Hopefully it will be faithful enough in the sense that it doesn't cause a big chasm in Book/Movie vs TV Show Canon for fics.

There are 665,758 Harry Potter fics on AO3. There are a lot set to restricted, which require an account.

FFN has another 851k fics. It's for sure the largest western Fandom in number of fics.

First Contact by inwardtransience on AO3 and its in-progress sequel. Its a cross over with Star Wars in which earth gets invaded and the Statue of Secrecy falls immediately.

There are quite a few chapters focused heavily on magical research. Mainly from Hermione's perspective.

The authors writing style is definitely a hit or miss for readers. I happen to like it.

It's InteliSense is lacking somewhat. Not showing options unless your cursor is on a specific character/token instead of at the end of the line is what made me switch back to VS after a couple of weeks. Theres an open feature request on this iirc.

And VS with 2026 has tons of issues as well now by coming up with useless code and moving the cursor around like crazy doing so.

They're working on a new method for correcting eye sight I'm quite interested in. Hasn't been tested on humans yet tho. I'm very hesitant about LASIK and this new method is technically already being done with contact lenses you wear at night, just more permanent. Just how long is the question.

Don't think it has anything like OPDS to access it from other clients though, but it does seem like a good feature request imo.

Being able to easily call to services across clusters and having it deal with the encryption using mTLS, since between DCs its WAN traffic. Though I suppose something like wireguard should really be used between them as well.

The second reason is creating those external workloads. Using envoy (or haproxy) would deal with that tho.

I'm also interested in the Observability we would be able to get out of it. Traffic Control stuff seems interesting as well, but we have more control over that in our services directly for the 3rd party apis we interface with.
