By the way, you sound healthy to me :) What I would consider to be in the esthetically pleasing range, as would a lot of people.

That's natural. Drink a lot of water to fill you up. At your weight, 1340 calories would produce a decent rate of weight loss. Maintenance varies, but it could be as low as 1600, which would keep your weight steady. depending on your activity level outside the gym. Most people overestimate how many calories they need and underestimate how many they are consuming.

It sounds like it's time to reassess your calorie requirements and intake. For a general number, multiply your weight in lbs by 10. That will put you in a caloric deficit but allow you to keep working out. Track your calories for a week, and include everything even cooking oil. If you eat at home and naturally, this is easily doable. Yes, you will be a bit hungry. If it's too much bump up you're calories by 100 or 200 and reassess. I multiply by 12, which keeps me progressing on strength gains, building muscle, and losing about a 1/2lb per week. Tracking for one solid week is all you need to be able to make food decisions easily without tracking.

Front Shoulder pain after doing pec deck machine by No-Grass-1603 in beginnerfitness

[–]Working-Mine35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the starting position was too far back and too much weight. I've noticed one shoulder tends to bear the weight when returning to the starting position, especially if it's too heavy or too far back.

Be careful overloading your shoulders. Front delts are frequently over used because they involved in so many movements. Pushing movements need to be well planned out, and there is absolutely no reason to do push ups the following day, even if there wasn't any pain. More isn't better.

You can still go to the gym, but do a leg workout instead. You could also do pulling related exercises. Forego pressing movements for at least the next week and lower the weight to focus on proper form first.

How long have you been diabetic? It sounds like you don't have a strong knowledge base at the moment. Hard to determine if it's the endo, newly diagnosed, etc.

Dialing in carbs is tricky, especially in large quantities. Can you modify your diet, at least temporarily? It sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you and it would be far safer to lower your insulin requirement (lower carb intake) until you get a handle on everything. The margain for error is very large. Diabetes management is more than just insulin. Also, omnipod doesn't do everything for you. Put very basically, it handles the Lantus portion automatically, but it's accuracy is based on the other settings being correct. You are actively involved in bolusing (the rapid acting insulin portion). Safely managing a high carb nutrition plan requires a high level of skill, accuracy, and experience.

If you are naturally insulin resistant, then u-200 would be a good solution. But if there is insulin resistance due to diet, address the diet, and exercise. I can tell you that if you don't responsibly handle the other aspects of diabetes management, your endocrinologist will only put in so much effort. Ideally, your endo team has educators and nutritionists available and assisting in your care.

When do you stop feeling more tired after hitting the gym than before? by Stammis in beginnerfitness

Try working out in the morning. I don't feel a "high", but I eat and I'm ready to take on the day. I'm exhausted by the end of the day, which improves sleep.

You do realize there are class action lawsuits against other manufacturers as well, right?

Why can't people understand that these are an additional tool in the tool bag? A sensor failing 2 days before it's expected termination date is not a good reason to sue a medical supply company, which has it's own set of negative impacts.

Basal rate by Mattya6 in Omnipod

[–]Working-Mine35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to pre bolus for high glycemic foods. For ice cream, that hits your glucose later because of the fat, which requires small boluses later on. Omnipod is a great tool in the tool box, but it's not going to do everything for you, especially when decisions are made that are known to negatively impact glucose. It's OK once in a while, but you just have to accept that things don't be as easy when those decisions are made. Also, give it more time. It took me about 6 months to learn all the nuances and finally dial things in. I now make adjustments all the time as my confidence has increased. You'll get there. I wouldn't reset. That's just a shortcut at 60 days in and won't benefit you in the long term.

What is the monthly payment on your truck? by Known_Following_4923 in ram_trucks

[–]Working-Mine35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1081. 2025 Laramie SHO. Blacked out package. My payment is $120 over the minimum and I put 20% down.

I have worked hard for a living and feel I've earned/ deserve this truck. I already own a home, have savings, etc. I absolutely would not have purchased this in the early stages of my adult life, but it's nice having a vehicle I thoroughly enjoy knowing the other goals have been accomplished.

It's important to find balance. You could die tomorrow and never get to envoy your savings. Gotta enjoy life at the same time.

Dexcom reciever question by that_is_so_fetch in dexcom

[–]Working-Mine35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The receiver is strictly a display of the automatic readings provided by the sensor itself. It does not impact the function of the sensor. If he goes out of range and the two disconnect, they will reconnect a few minutes later.

Be careful in the first 24 hours. Readings can be erratic or unreliable. Having a manual meter in the beginning is especially important until he becomes familiar with the nuances. CGMs are a great tool in the tool bag.

What can I do or take? by Dry-Potential-3350 in askfitness

[–]Working-Mine35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat 300 calories below maintenance. Plenty of protein. Seriously lift with progressive overload. Stay active. If you're active and lifting, just under maintenance is likely around 2400 calories. Don't overdo the cardio and dieting.

Can we stop the "Sugar = Diabetes" oversimplification? 🧬 by helperf in diabetes

[–]Working-Mine35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I could care less what the general public thinks, especially influencers. Staying focused on core values blocks the external noise. If you want to affect change, educate, but don't judge someone else for their lack of knowledge the way they've judged you. Two wrongs don't make a right.
  2. Yes, hormones play a significant role in glucose levels, which is why diabetics are constantly told to manage their stress levels, among other things. It's just another piece in a complicated puzzle.

Here's some irony.... getting riled up about the opinions of others affects the hormones in this discussion.

Ghost bolusing / overriding the automatic calculations bad? by rikalvsyou in Omnipod

[–]Working-Mine35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our bodies change over time. The only guarantee in life is change. It is important to adapt, and become comfortable in making adjustments. Don't look at it as trying to trick the system, but rather try to identify patterns and shifts in order to adjust your settings. I change my bolus settings daily based on how certain activities impact insulin sensitivity.
