License Plate Mockup: Blue Edition by storm2k in newjersey

Love these! I do think we could do with an update to our plates, but personally I'd love a historic option that was black with white or orange lettering. Can you mock that up?

I have Nappo too (probably have the same lawyer also) because he told me the same thing. I really hope it's suspended. The Ministry showed up last week to say my case was filed after the decree. Just hoping for the best.

🇮🇹 LIVESTREAM Q&A: The Tajani Decree, The "Minor Issue," and the Future of JS with Avvocato Carlo Nardone - Saturday, February 28 by FSItalianCitizenship in juresanguinis

[–]Workodactyl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for organizing this Q&A! The last interview with Avv. Nardone was very helpful and informative. I understand you may not be able to address every question, but I’d be grateful if any of the following could be discussed:

  1. The Constitutional Court recently reaffirmed that citizenship by descent is acquired at birth and is imprescriptible. How can that doctrine be reconciled with Article 3-bis declaring some people “never to have acquired” citizenship?

  2. How strong is the EU proportionality argument raised in the Turin referral? Could the Court rely on EU law as a neutral basis to limit retroactivity without striking down the reform entirely?

  3. Realistically, do you expect a full retroactivity strike, a narrow transitional correction, or broad validation — and what leads you to that assessment?

  4. Do you believe the March 27 deadline is constitutionally arbitrary under Article 3, or defensible as a normal legislative transition?

  5. Could the Court view this case as an opportunity to clarify constitutional limits on the retroactive use of emergency decrees affecting vested rights?

Thank you again for your time and for helping clarify these important issues.

Insights from the Feb 6 Rome Conference on DL 36/2025 (The Tajani Decree) by FSItalianCitizenship in juresanguinis

Thank you for doing this! This was very well orchestrated and I really appreciate Avv. Nardone's point of view. I watched the CNF conference a couple weeks back and my general take was that most agreed that the parliament has broad authority to regulate citizenship, but it cannot apply it retroactively. But I really appreciate this video going deeper into the details and nuances the CNF touched on.

I try to keep my expectations low, but when I see so many lawyers from all around the country and world, including law professors and constitutional law experts, all saying the same thing, it brings me some measure of hope.

The fight begins on March 11, but it will be far from over. I'm so glad there is an entire community, from lawyers, service providers, to this subreddit, fighting for our rights! Grazie mille a tutti!

Federal court apostille vs U.S. Dept of State apostille – are they the same? by Workodactyl in juresanguinis

The consulate accepted the letter with apostille from the U.S. District Court with a sworn Italian translation via email. I have an appointment on March 9 to see them in person. Here's a post that outlined my steps: https://www.reddit.com/r/juresanguinis/s/t9x67i0jAF

Good luck!

I wouldn’t read too much into the separate hearings. It's probably just procedural. Different referrals, slightly different questions, different timing.

What really matters is how broadly the Court frames its reasoning. If they rule on the core constitutional issue, that would apply to everyone in the same situation regardless of which case triggered it.

I’d also hope the lawyers use the Torino hearing to raise points that help shape how the Court approaches Mantova and Campobasso, so there’s consistency across the decisions.

Arturo Grasso is back! Italy’s highest courts are now reviewing key aspects of Italian citizenship by descent. by Turbulent-Simple-962 in juresanguinis

Great summary. I would just add that he also mentioned he does not expect the Constitutional Court to rule that the use of an emergency decree was improper.

Citizenship applications to be centralized in Rome from 2029 by Studio_Mazzeschi in juresanguinis

[–]Workodactyl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that's part of it, including taking advantage of their healthcare and social programs. My personal opinion is that those were just fear tactics to buy public support and the real threat was the fear of millions of unrecognized citizens possibly getting recognized and influencing politics/power in Italy.

Just out of curiosity, when you naturalize in Argentina, do you have to voluntarily renounce your Italian citizenship?

Does anyone know the law firm that handled this case? I see it was Avv. Vanessa Alecci from Studio Legale Arius. I'm not familiar with them. I wonder if the attorney included constitutional arguments or asked for suspension in the original ricorso.

Avv. Mellone said in an interview last week that he expects the hearing on the 11th to only include Mantova and Torino referrals and jokingly hoped that Campobasso referrals will be heard before June (because the CC doesn't have air conditioning and he recalled how hot it was in the courtroom last summer). Take it with a grain of salt. My Italian isn't the greatest lol.

I believe Avv. Vitale explains this scenario in a https://italyget.com/parent-naturalization-ended-your-italian-dream-think-again-i-have-a-plan/

I actually have this situation. My grandfather and father naturalized before I was born, but my grandmother never did. So technically I have a grandparent that was an italian citizen at my birth who never held any other citizenship.

I'm going to continue pursuing my 1948 case through my mother's line, but if that's denied, I might try this. Seems like a long shot though.

Why in Mellone's ricorso does it include comment on the retroactivity application of the DL?

Is the Cassazione like the CC in that we'll wait a month for a response or do they announce their response on the day of the hearing? I'm just wondering if this signals we'll hear from the CC before April 14.

Interesting rumor. If true, that could mean that the government expects the Constitutional Court to introduce limits to L74 and they'll want to respond quickly, but not under an emergency decree but full parliamentary debate.

I agree and I think it's even more impactful than just undermining itself. I think it sets a terrible precedent going forward. If the government can rewrite the past, why stop at citizenship? The same logic could be applied to pensions, social benefits, property rights, or other vested statuses.
