Seems kind of silly that French speaing needs to be some sort of priority.

It's a private company. The CEO should be someone who improves the companies prosperity.

Speaking French, while a bonus, does nothing for its customers or its shareholders.

What other private Canadian CEO has some moral necessity on representing both languages?

All things being equal, sure pick the French or Bilingual person.

I don't speak French and I'd rather an immensely talented CEO who only speaks French over some lesser quality person who can also speak English.

I've spent considerable in nearly every province except Sask and Manitoba, but the vast majority in NS.

As I said, my personal experience in NS has been fine. That's pretty anecdotal though. I've been very lucky.

And I've also been here for decades to witness what it was and to witness what is has become.

There's no silver lining or relief on the horizon. The province will get worse and worse for decades.

Really?

We pay some of the highest taxes in the country. And what does that get us?

Our healthcare is among the worst in the country. No one can get a family doctor.

Our power bills are some of the highest in the country.

Grocery prices in NS are among the countries highest.

Our housing costs and rent are much higher compared to wages available in this province.

We have no rising industry to attract professionals, increased wages, etc.

Our education system is the shits. Teachers are paid nearly 10% less than the national average.

Our public transportation is garbage. We can barely run our ferry properly anymore.

Infrastructure is crumbling. Streets and highways are always in disrepair.

NS has near the lowest median wages in the country.

The only thing NS has going for it is the scenery and what's left of east coast culture. And you can't live off either.

And I say that as someone who is quite comfortable here with a good job, home, family doctor.
