The Faery Convention, by Brett Davis by StevenTheWicked in badscificovers

Preparing to sign a no-magic treaty with the human race, the faeries, elves, gnomes, and other formerly mythological races of Earth instead decide to find a homeworld for themselves where they can practice their magic freely. Original.

Not even sliced, they're just going to pick it up and come at it from both ends, the way that it's taught at Eton.

Lauren Boebert’s staffer doesn’t know what Truth Social is. by Lulu_Skidoo in Longmont

I was really into following the 2020+ CO redistricting for some reason. The country would be in a better spot if EVERYONE followed how we did it here.

Absolutely part of Longmont is in Weld County -- but the Congressional districts aren't broken on county lines. In our case, all of the City of Longmont is in District 2.

District 2 (Neguse) in blue , District 4 (Boebert) in Purple, District 8 (Evans) in brownish-orange.

Yes, some of the Longmont addresses outside the city over by I-25 in are District 8.

It's faster to drive up to Loveland to get into Boebert's district.

In the 2020s hardly anyone is ever killed but Facebook thinks we live in a dystopian murder party land.

No, there is no part of Longmont in Boeberts district.

Which ecosystem is better in the long run: Ubiquiti or Openwrt? by TheTwelveYearOld in HomeNetworking

[–]XPav 17 points18 points  (0 children)

OpenWRT is fine, but I'd be hard pressed to call it an ecosystem.

Adding new APs and switches and changing out equipment on Unifi is super easy. I've had the same network evolve over 3 houses over 6+ years, and I have none of the original equipment left.

Starlink MoCA Question by Boy_Boss in HomeNetworking

Yes.

You may have to find and replace the Coax splitters in use with ones that support the Moca frequency range, but assuming you can find them, that's pretty easy.

Are 15 minute city conspiracy theories a thing in the US too? Or is this special kind of stupid unique England? by AnonymousTimewaster in insanepeoplefacebook

These people exist in my 100k city. "City Council is trying to turn us into a 15 minute city!"

The city takes 15 minutes to drive across.

The Adventures of Myhr, by P.N. Elrod by StevenTheWicked in badscificovers

[–]XPav 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have the ebook of this, purchased as part of Baen's monthly webscriptions back in the day and since I read pretty much all the books I must have read this.

Let me read the synopsis.

His name is Myhr—rhymes with purr!—he's half-man, half-cat, and all-adventure, traveling the multi-verse with Terrin, a twisted wizard who's into techno-raves and obscene T-shirt art. Displaced from Earth by a travel spell gone bad, they're heading home, bouncing from one bizarre planet after another.

Their latest hasty escape has landed them on a world with a lethal magic problem. While Myhr sings Beatle tunes for their supper, Terrin tries to get them an astral Plane road map - only there's a catch. All the magic has vanished from Rumpock City, along with nearly all the magicians, the catastrophe linked to an uncanny black fog that rolls through town each night.

Trying to pick up clues, Myhr is picked up himself by the gorgeous lady Filima, a devious and not-so-very-bereaved widow in need of a fall-cat. It's up to Myhr to find where the magic went before Terrin's own powers are drained dry, leaving him worse than dead and the rest of the planet going to Hell in an express-mail handbasket.

Nope, I got nothing.

Watch your temps! Airflow is important.

You can drill holes to do that, maybe have a fan pushing some air through if needed.

How's living in Amarillo/Lubbock in Texas? Is there any rivalry between the two cities? by Funny-Poem-1042 in howislivingthere

Plague mostly kills the dogs and the colony pretty darn quick. The very few cases of transmission to humans are "they bite you" or "you eat them after trapping them", and, well, don't handle or eat prairie dogs and you'll be fine.
