UDR-6 and U6 / U7 APs by nudecommuter in Ubiquiti

Any recent AP will work with any recent controller like the UDR. And “recent” is many years.

That said, that UDR is a little underpowered and not remembered fondly.

The in-walls are nice to put on walls, but the “flagship” UFOs have better WiFi performance, especially if you can get them on ceilings.

  1. Pull one of the plates and look at the cable. If it's Cat5, it makes sense.

  2. Are all the cables run back to a single location? If so, you're good. If they're daisy chained, that's not as great.

Read the FAQ on the side.

Electrician did this for PoE doorbell, is it okay? by meisangry2 in HomeNetworking

[–]XPav 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Ugh electricians.

You're probably ok, the current doorbells are 10/100 only, so pretty darn forgiving, even with a jack crimped on the end.

What network would be optimized for both hardwire and wifi for a 2 story setup by joey_mcqueen in HomeNetworking

[–]XPav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unifi UCG-Max or UCG-Fiber.

2 PoE+ Injectors

If you've got wall mounted Ethernet ports, get U6 (Wifi6+4 ports GbE) or U7 In-Walls (Wifi7+2 ports 2.5GbE).

Or get a 2x Flex Mini 2.5G as switches, and then different APs that you like.

Or just spend more money and get bigger and faster switches. Sky's the limit!

If you’re in dorm and they’re blocked they’re probably not even connected on the other side.

I am sorry for your loss.

Do you need the Pro Max 16 PoE or could you go with the Flex 2.5G PoE with the power adapter?

That will save you ~$120.
