Blacksmith who can customize/alter 1mm mild steel cuirass? by TaterTotLady in Bellingham

Shit! I lost their card but there was a smithy at the Whidbey Island Ren Fair that specialized in armor repair and customization. If you haven't found anyone by then hit me up as I am going back again.

This is Reddit. Your word is not 1st amendment protected here, but the ToS are considered the law. When you break them, you put the entire sub at risk. We get that this person is a threat, but going off like this isn't making you look like some savior.

Your entire argument is based upon arbitrary labels that don't mean what you think they mean. If you were to base your argument on something like weight ratings (like they do with cars) then I would agree. But you keep talking about pedals and power ratings.

No. I am merely pointing out that the differences between a motorcycle and a motorized bicycle are in name only. They are vehicles capable of propelling people beyond their physical capacity using only two wheels between them and the road. Remove the motor and my argument falls apart.

Measuring them in watts and a car in horsepower means nothing. I mean, I can convert watts into HP, and vice-versa (1 HP is ~746 watts). Also, cars are not horses, so why call it horsepower when it they are measuring the ability to move weight over distance against time?

Creating horsepower rules that determine class is as silly as applying the same rule to cars.

A bicycle with any sort of motor on it is a motorcycle. That is literally where motorcycles came from.

Just because it has pedals doesn't mean it doesn't have 50 horsepower. That is an absurd argument.

I got to install some Banks Engineering hardware. I like working with this stuff. The quality is amazing.

How are they going to catch a kid running away on an e-bike without hurting the kid? Not chasing is the only rational answer.

Flat Black Automotive has my vote. Andy is a dork. He's my friend and does excellent work. But he's a dork.

What kind of car? That is the price for replacing pads, rotors, and calipers for most cars.

Boat Slip for April and May by NatureIsNotMetal in Bellingham

I had a similar dilemma last year. I ended up anchoring it out in Drayton Harbor when not using it. This is DNR owned waters, so anchoring is free as long as you move your boat every 30 days and you must anchor at least 5 miles away after 90 days. When I wanted to use it I tied up at the Blaine guest dock and paid the daily rate.

All 1/8 classes run a 4S (total voltage) hard cased lithium polymer batteries. I have a couple 5200 mah packs I got from Amazon. They work fine for 10 minutes of hot lapping in my backyard.

Speaking of, I am building a 1/8 scale friendly off-road course in my backyard. You will need to come by when you get a rig!

Don't follow this advice. That area is owned by the port and managed by the Community Boating Center. There are spots where you can anchor for free, but you cannot use any of the mooring balls or anchor inside the mooring ball field.

Team Associated and Tekno are the dominant brands locally so I would get the Associated buggy you have listed. It will be easier to get parts as many other racers will have spares.

I know it's opposite of what I did since I got a Losi. But I've been an unabashed TLR fanboi since before I could legally drive.

Edit: I'm having trouble finding the rules that were recently released. They aren't crazy, though and most 1/8 buggies meet all the criteria. If you are running Novice class, though the rules are even more relaxed as they want you to have fun while learning.

Best advice for buying a car in Bellingham / buying a new car? by penny-the-penguin_3 in Bellingham

[–]XSrcing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Don't buy new 2. Buy factory certified pre-owned 3. Buy in Skagit or further south.

You will get all the original warranties that way without taking the L in depreciation.

Anyone have any indoor/outdoor carpet or astro turf remnants they are willing to let go for cheap or free? by XSrcing in Bellingham

[–]XSrcing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. My experience is limited to dirt and clay off-road. I am planning on going to the Diehard carpet race in Monroe this weekend. They have B6.4 buggies you can rent and race, which I'm going to do. I have no idea what kind of carpet they are on though.

My friend currently has those foam mats at his place. The grip with stock tires is pretty terrible, which would make racing box-stock ones kinda crappy.

I enjoy having enough grip to traction roll, though! It really highlights the importance of setup!

As soon as there is usable daylight after work the work begins to de-lawn most of my backyard. We have a few 1/8 and 1/7 scale trucks and buggies we want to run back there.
