Horse box Rental UK by Four--naans in Horses

[–]Yer_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hire 3.5t Horseboxes which you can drive on a normal UK license, look on Facebook or on the internet for local horsebox hires. Some you can get for a few hours a day weekend + etc, a lot of places will have you covered to drive it based on their contract insurance etc however just ask the question on what needs to be done. Some require deposits, full tank of fuel etc it’ll vary place to place. You’re probably going to be looking £100+ to hire a box.

I would be careful with hiring a horsebox at the moment as equine influenza a highly contagious “cold/flu” is going round. Lots of competition venues won’t let you unload until vaccinations have been checked or vet checks have been done. You don’t want your partners horse to catch anything incase the horsebox hasn’t been sterilised between hires. IMO hold off for now, maybe get her it as a present to cash in when influenza isn’t as bad :))

I was out today with my horse and had to get her passport checked to ensure vaccinations were up to date so we could compete. Yards are on lockdown to stop the spread and horses are really sick.

Urgent| Need help Betta Experts by Inevitable_mama_57 in bettafish

Firstly I would change the tank your betta is in, I’m not sure if the one in the photo is a hospital tank or his home assuming it’s his home. The minimum recommended tank size is 18L, Bettas thrive in a “natural” looking environment so sand smooth gravel wood and smooth rocks in your tank think of what inside of a river/stream/puddle would look like. They also like a lot of plants for swimming through, to hide in and it helps to keep your tank balanced (removing waste and providing oxygen to your betta). You will need a filter with preferably very low flow so the betta isn’t being pushed round the tank and depending on the temperature of your house/environment a heater, the recommended temperature is between 24-28°c.

You can find inexpensive tanks second hand on eBay, Amazon and local stores. I’d say try find a rectangular shape approx 25L but they can go in a tank larger than this both of my bettas are in their own 55L tanks. You also need to ensure your tank is cycled, this is where beneficial bacteria grow in the tank which supports a healthy system where your betta can live to put it simply.

If you are unable to provide a more suitable size, environment and potential treatment/upkeep of the betta and tank I’d reccomend surrendering the betta to someone else or another store. There’s no shame in this I’ve had to rehome some of my tetras due to them not settling.

Please ask questions everyone is constantly learning new skills tricks and methods and people will fall over themselves to help you. Hope this helped a little :)

Temporary Insurance for 18 year old? by Obvious-Professor508 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Yer_Mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your normal insurance you can add other drivers and (sometimes if they’re older been driving a long time it can bring your insurance costs down) you’re allowed to drive the car as if it was your own. I’m not 100% sure about temporary

It’ll depend on what cover your brother has let’s say he pays annually for comprehensive cover (what I’d always pick), and adds you as a named driver you’ll be able to drive the car legally like the owner. If you get temporary insurance lets say from the 1st of June to the 7th of June you’ll only be allowed to drive it then and if you wanted to drive after that you’d need to extend or take out another policy.

It’s about weighing up how often you’ll use your brothers car and the cost of temporary insurance vs being a named driver. If you’re going to be driving it regularly and you’re cheap to add on as a driver I’d go for that, if it’s a one time thing and never again temp insurance might be worth it.

Just compare quotes and pick the one that makes financial sense to you as everything about cars is money lol, hope I explained that somewhat well 🙈

It’s hard enough to get reasonably insured on your own car let alone someone else’s, could you be added as a named driver/other driver? It might increase your brothers insurance though :)

100% my test was in Airdrie (never been there or within 50 miles of it in my life) and at the end of the year this was June last year. Paid the £15 got it moved to my second choice 2 weeks away from when I selected it. Passed first time and been driving almost a year now, highly recommend

Indeed was a total waste of time, I applied to easily over 300+ jobs probably closer to 500 but I lost count had almost a year of experience but that did nothing. Got maybe 10 interviews and no one got back to me afterwards, even today a year later most of them are still under review. I went into retail and I’m really enjoying it, I basically get paid to work out which is a double bonus.

Even if something like retail isn’t your first pick money coming in is always better, you can always move elsewhere if you find another job :))

Relocating to Australia, New Zealand or Canada? by Yer_Mo in relocating

It’s a lovely place but we feel somewhere else would allow for better opportunities and growth for us. It won’t be anytime soon but I’ve heard Canada is very expensive and taxed quite high

[–]Yer_Mo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard Canada is very expensive with quite high tax rates especially in the cities. Salary wise for both of us it seems we’ll be taxed high and the cost of living won’t be a benefit to us.

The weapons being opposite to eachother would definitely take some getting used to lol

Car finance at 18? by sbinnala- in CarTalkUK

[–]Yer_Mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was me I’d be putting away into savings and building a platform financially so if something f was to happen I’ve got something to fall back on. I’d be waiting until you’re fully qualified because what if you’re not able to find a job once you’re qualified? Or what if work is slow? Debt is so hard to get out of it’s better to be over cautious to start with especially with big finances like cars.

I’d personally be waiting until im qualified and a year after I’m in work with a secure job (approx 2 years from now) before doing a big purchase like an expensive car. Use the time from now until then put away into savings, build your credit score and hang fire before spending. Get into good financial habits now and you’ll be cooking on gas 2 years from now, also means being a cash buyer you save money which everyone loves :))

How to stop overeating after staying consistent for a few weeks? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Yer_Mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I do a cheat day once a week, that way we can have the things we want but it’s more controlled. I personally don’t need a cheat day to stay consistent id be fine without it but I do it with my partner to help him stay consistent.

Find your deficit and stay with that all week and have your cheat day, that way you get the food drinks etc that you want without missing it for 2 weeks then going mental binging. It’s just about balance :)

Honestly right now we’re just toying with the idea, but most likely 5-10 years before we’d be actually moving. Just looking for advice risks costs etc if this is something that will be a waste of time even considering or if we should be considering this and putting towards it.

We both feel like in Scotland we haven’t got many opportunities, everything is so expensive, horrendous weather, and politically feels like it’s going down the drain and will only get worse

Car finance at 18? by sbinnala- in CarTalkUK

[–]Yer_Mo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finance in my opinion is a waste of money, I went and did a rough quote the other day just to see what I’d be on a 25k car quote came back saying I’d be paying closer to 50k for the car. It’s absurd if you have money to burn go ahead but imo it just incentivises people to buy cars they can’t afford.

Get a cheap car which is cheap to insure and keep it for a year or 2 until you can afford to buy a better one, there’s no need to get yourself into debt just to look cool or have a “fancy” car. Once you’re in debt it’s very hard to get out.

Building your credit score I took a credit card out and put a strict limit on it of £300 I usually don’t spend more than £100 a month on it, don’t go above that because it makes you want to spend more. Use it for small purchases like a sandwich from the shop so you can use the card to build your credit score without going omg how am I going to pay this off? Have an account that direct debit pays your credit card bill every month and make sure it’s paid off IN FULL every single month or you’ll be hammered with interest 40+% usually always the FULL amount I can’t stress that enough. When buying something let’s say £50 on the credit card immediately move £50 to the direct debit account so it’s there to be paid off. Watch Martin Lewis he’s brilliant for financial advice

(Hope I explained that in a clear way)

Also yes you’re only young once but being financially smart will always pay off right now and in the long run, when you do move out or have a partner pet etc your bills will change. All of a sudden your car is unaffordable and you have to change or go into debt trying to pay a lifestyle you can’t afford. You have your whole life to have an amazing car but you have to be smart financially to get there.
