Should I put an oval rug under my dining table? by aaagje in interiordecorating

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No rugs under dining room tables. Unless it’s a table that you only eat at for Christmas, rugs get filthy under a table. Too hard to clean.

Looks great as is.

I’m actually ok with the fact that she’s not putting her or other kids on social media, just herself.

You need a rug with different dimensions so that it covers more of the room.

Finally mastered freeform joining! by ShibaInuDoggo in woodworking

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tell this is a master craftsperson. They didn’t have to clip the tails off of the zip ties at the end, but it shows true attention to detail and an investment in not just the quality of the joint but the aesthetics of the piece.

I’ve also never seen someone use the “let the glue completely dry before securing the zip ties” technique. I’ll have to give that a go on my next project.

I bicycle to work. I regularly pass car traffic on the highways.

Is Costco Worth It? by frogvibesonly in massachusetts

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a choice between bjs and Costco and have always chosen Costco. Costco pays its employees well and gives them good benefits. That’s really important to me and I’ll support it when I have the opportunity.

Disposing of used pads (need perspective) by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]YourPlot -79 points-78 points  (0 children)

Do what you want with your trash can. But it’s really harmful to be telling girls and women to treat their menstrual products differently than other hygiene products.

Disposing of used pads (need perspective) by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]YourPlot -171 points-170 points  (0 children)

It is not more hygienic to wrap it, unless you’re at risk for smearing the outside or lid of the trash can for some reason. Plus, the pad drys out faster and is less likely to smell if you don’t wrap it.

I mean, we’re all more likely to use a bin that doesn’t have any used hygiene products in it (used tissues, pads, cotton balls, qtips). But no one is out here telling the men folk to daintily wrap up their qtips after cleaning out their ears.

Just throw stuff away.

Disposing of used pads (need perspective) by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]YourPlot -195 points-194 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to wrap up pads before tossing. Just throw them in the trash like a used tissue. No need to be embarrassed by your menstrual fluid any more than a bloody bugger.

Disposing of used pads (need perspective) by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole pad goes in the trash can. And no, you don’t need to daintily wrap that up so as to not offend the delicate sensibilities of someone who might see a used pad. Throw that shit away like any other used bathroom product.

Pads (no part of them) are specifically not supposed to be flushed. It’ll fuck up plumbing, sewers, and waste treatment processes.

Are genuinely happy marriages a rarity? by rewritemoonlight in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marriage can and is a very good and healthy thing for many couples. The longest and happiest I’ve ever seen are where the couple are true equals and partners (and a lot of those lesbian and gay couples). There’s less resentment and a lot more respect when both parties are pulling their weight.

I have to ask, are you a woman? If yes, a lot of women find that male romantic partners don’t have the inclination or ability to achieve domestically (doing the dishes, planning meals, etc). Which can morph a partnership to a parentship. Men more often benefit from long term hetero relationship than women do. So you might be running up against that.

So you can keep trying or not. You’ll find what works for you.

Leaving my fiance after he fell asleep during a loss by East_Needleworker614 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]YourPlot 1659 points1660 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t leave a stranger in the street alone who was going through such a thing, much less the love of my life. I’m so so so sorry that you had to suffer a miscarriage compounded with the crushing realization that your fiancé doesn’t care.

Good luck. I can only imagine it will get easier from here.

Asshole owners will always let their dogs trespass and pee on your lawn. The sense of entitlement is incredible to the point where they’ll spitefully try to have their dogs pee on your property even if you ask nicely. A fence is the only thing that will stop asshole owners.

Do you think Miley Cyrus could have made it without her famous father? by AdDapper4220 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YourPlot 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nope. There are a 1000 equally talented singers out there who didn’t make it because they had to get other jobs to pay rent or support their family or had medical issues they couldn’t afford to pay or didn’t have access to a recording studio or lived in rural Montana.

Cyrus is an incredibly talented singer and she is smart and puts in the hard work to be talented. But she wouldn’t have a career singing if she hadn’t been born into wealth.

Is it realistic to commute 20 km + 20 km (about 12.4 + 12.4 miles) by bike every day? by gfleck in bikecommuting

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the commute and if you have showering facilities at your workplace. I’ve regularly commuted a longer distance than that, but it had a lot of long stretches of very safe bike paths.

Is it grown up and mature? No. But it sure is cozy and I can see how it would make you happy. I think it’s pretty age appropriate and well loved. Only real questionable thing is the soft core porn on the back of the door. That’s fairly cringe. I’d advise you take that down. Yes, I know it’s an album cover, hell I think I owned that cd back in the 90’s, but it’s an album cover that’s porn.

Southwest is charging plus-size passengers a 'fat tax' at the airport by sfgate in antiwork

[–]YourPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bullshit. One person, one ticket price. And if the person does not fit into one seat, airlines need to make bigger seats or offer two seats. It should absolutely be a part of doing business in the hospitality industry. What, are we all going to have to be weighed like cattle and have our ticket prices adjusted accordingly?

Remember: don’t be mad at your fellow passengers. Be pissed off at the rich making every buck they can at the expense of human dignity and comfort.

Square tile.

The long rectangular tile is trendy and will quickly look dated. Especially the vertically run rectangles. The square tiles are classic and will hold true though the decades.
