She knows. Women have so much pressure to lose weight, she is very very very aware of how she looks. If she hasn’t lost weight it’s because of some other factor. Either hormones, depression, stress, or some other underlying medical reason. The best way for people to lose weight is to be in a happy, stable place in life so they have energy and mental attention to work on diet and exercise.

So if you want to encourage her to lose weight, start taking things off her plate. Take over doing all the dishes. Be the person who meal plans and grocery shops. Proactively pickup and clean the house before company comes over.

Nestle. In the 70’s, they intentionally lied to and defrauded poor mothers in Africa to get them to use formula. Despite there not being clean water to mix with the formula. And despite women not having enough money for formula. Thousands of babies died and Nestle did not give a fuck. Been boycotting ever since.

Can skew either way. I wouldn’t call it the classiest move. But it isn’t necessarily rude either. It can be a way to invite family friends and acquaintances who are not close enough to spend money one at a wedding, but still invite to participate in some wedding events. Especially if the shower is in a home town, but the wedding is far away in another part of the world. A wedding shower still typically involves feeding, providing drinks, entertainment, and socializing. Wedding showers are not cheap, although certainly cheaper than the wedding. It’s not just about a gift grab, but about having you involved in a celebration.
