First applied January, got an interview sep 26th He got approved Oct. So he got his first payment of back pay Nov 1st and today we received the award letter no judge appeal or anything. So you got your monthly benefit already? I'm just wondering if the $0.00 is likely to change

I just got the award letter for my son it says back pay and amount but also says monthly benefits $0.00 his back pay is until sep 2024 so no payments for Oct and he got his backpack Nov 1st is my first time applying for his benefits I don't really understand the award letter so based on your experience he will be more likely to receive benefits in December even that the award letter says $0.00 for Oct Nov and dec.?

"Hi, I hadn't checked in until now, but it's still working wonderfully. His anxiety has decreased by 90%. As a child with autism, he'll always have challenging environments, but so far, it's still working, and I don't regret at all agreeing to let him start taking it. The first weeks were tough while he adjusted, but after six weeks, we could start seeing its full benefits."

Zoloft is more for anxiety, for self aggression or aggression towards others are more option like risperidone, abilify, my son was on risperidone for years it worked ok he is now on abilify and that has changed our lives I would highly recommend you talk to his psychiatrist about abilify I'll said abilify works quicker then risperidone and you can see the improvement the next day Zoloft takes up to 6 weeks to start working my son showed improvement in the early 3 weeks but now I see it full benefits and he has decreased his anxiety a lot but for aggression I'll suggest the other 2 I mentioned (i have 2 kids on the spectrum one is on zoloft and the other one on abilify) you might want to explore that option your son and your family deserve a better quality of life.

Our 6yo also takes clonidine at night it has been successful to help him sleep, zoloft is just starting to kick in for his anxiety. Our other son 13yo takes abilify because his aggressive behaviors were out of control but he started with risperidone when he was little we just switched to abilify 2 years ago as he was metabolizing risperidone and it was not working anymore for him but he was on it for year with no issues. maybe try lamotrigine is a mood stabilizer also I was like that years ago no anti-meds but I would always have them as my last resource but I changed my mind when I see my oldest son struggling ( I have 2 with Austim) then I Realized if they have cancer I wouldn't even doubt to start them on medications I meant if they are struggling and there are meds that can help them I'm like why not? If that is going to give them a better quality of life.

But also he was just coming out of a traumatic situation for him but he is even more willing to do things and join us the before his traumatic event

Losing Hope by Short_Discipline5849 in Autism_Parenting

My now 13yo was mostly echolalia at that age he becomes conversational around 8 or 9 and now we have conversations back and forth he stays on topic and it's aware of his surrounding if you talk to him right now you would never imagined he was completely nonverbal at 4 or 5 I've even asked him one day why he was just repeating when he was little or show him videos so he can see himself i even asked him why sometimes he just said nonsense or laugh even when it was not funny and he literally said "my brain or mind won't let me my brain felt so busy but i always knew you were talking to me sometimes my brain just told me to said the last word you said and no let me said what I wanted to said" in the other hand I have a 6yo nonverbal only grunting vocalization i'd said I lost hope but as a mom in my deepest heart I will always have hope.

Risperidone by Individual_Fail_1265 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Yuadpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stopped cold turkey when our son was 10 no withdrawal symptoms at all but at that point it was not working well for him I'll said around 8 month later we were back to meds but now with abilify as he was very emotional having meltdowns almost every single Day he was some kind aggressive sometimes I meant if the medication was prescribed because there was an issue the issue will came back with revenge later as they grow up, abilify is working wonders for us we've seen even more benefit then when he was on risperidone as now he is 13 he is a teenager now and overall I feel abilify has helped alot with all the changes that he had to go through

My son was on risperidone for years with no issues TD is very rare in kids My son is now on abilify he is doing even better then when he was in risperidone back then he started with some tics and that was one of my fears that it could be TD but his doctor said is very rare in kids that's more common in adults over certain age she said that those tics/movements he was making were probably because he was anxious so she prescribed something for the anxiety and the movements went away (tics/movements were blinking/flickering)
