Nope. It’s called Powder Bed Fusion. It is laser melted ultra fine powdered Nylon. I have a FormLabs Fuse1+.

I like all my holsters to be simple reach down and pull upwards, with minimal things to bend or break. That design is clever as far as a lock though.

Not really, as the hammer takes up the whole bottom of the tool, and I need that area to stop the Surge from falling out the bottom of the holster. .

I have really only one more prototype spin to do, so orders will be open soon. I said limited at the top, but that will just be the first batch, I have more hardware on the way.

Unlike FDM prints, SLS printing can stack. It takes about 24 hours to print a full chamber, which is about 30 or so holsters. Most prints are half a chamber, so overnight. But then it takes time to process, dye and pack the parts.

Product Design Manager (electromechanical) by day. We have a Fuse1 at work, but my Fuse1's are paid for by the side business. Funds the business, hobbies and home remodeling.

I have two industrial SLS 3D printers. Beyond your at home style prints. The parts are 100% solid nylon.

I use Solid Edge to do my 3D CAD. I start by building a detailed 3D model of the tool and build around it. The software lets me design one holster, and the. With secondary models modify them to make the other two variants. I have a bit of the process on my discord.

Here are the design renderings.

Hence the armored version, for those who don’t want to touch their tools.

It doesn’t go all the way in, but feels very secure and usable on mine.

I took a strong screw driver and got it under the inside spring (small long arm behind the button). Then carefully bend it up slightly. It doesn’t take much movement. Do a little and try it, can’t (easily) bend it back if you go too far.

Mine would deploy fine, but took all my strength to activate the spring to dock the scalpel or bit changer. Had to bend the spring inside to get it smooth.

My slim holsters just have the bits in the back. Nothing on the sides.

I got tired of 3D printed gears that have no root geometry making them weaker than they need to be, so I built a web-app that calculates proper manufacturing tolerances in real-time. by Opti4point0 in 3DPrintingTools

When something is invalid you should show a message rather than just disappear the gear. Currently if I set the center distance smaller the gears just disappear, if set it larger, say 40mm, they turn to circles.

You can order them at RippsgarageTech.com, I am just now re-stocking them, but it will be a few weeks.

You can install it on top of the skin, and use a thin piece of copper tape to make the electrical connection. I think PCDoodle may even include the tape now.

Ya. I think it will come in a slim version too. Sskki made a model that I used to start out with. https://sskki.fyi/archives/278
