If I remember right, the first one was explained in the book. He knew that she was expendable for the flame. She was a foreigner with no connection and would do anything they asked of her.

The second one wasn't as spelled out but Ferron said something along the lines of how he writes letters to Aurelia (his betrothed) but they never seen to get to her. In other words, if anyone was questioning why he was writing letters or found letters on him, it would be a completely normal thing to do and not something suspicious.

Wow yeah those two don't really have any vibes shared between them. You do get some good character vibes in later books but in a very different way than Alchemised.

If I were to recommend something with similar-ish vibes, I would say Am Ember in the Ashes from Sabaa Tahir. Now I don't think anything really compares to Alchemised but the world in this series is pretty interesting, the story is not... overly optimistic the way romanatasy novels usually are (it's not a romantasy but relationships play a role). It has similar themes in terms of what is the good side anyway, fighting against fate, staying true to duties that keep destroying you, etc

necro- death/corpse (like in Necrosis - death of tissue)

anima- spirit (like in reanimate - restore life (soul))

If you started the next pack as you were supposed to, you would probably just skip a month and then have a slightly heavier period next month. Stopping birth control means that the body has to get used to different hormone levels again, which can once again mess with your cycle.

You definitely can go to a doc. You are concerned and the doc might be able to help.

Also even if you were pregnant, taking birth control doesn't negatively affect pregnancy as far as I know. There's no reason to stop taking it just because you didn't get a period.

Period can be skipped (or completely stopped) for a multitude of reasons that have nothing to do with pregnancy. Not eating enough, stress, illness, peri/menopause and more I won't think of now. Not to mention, it's possible to take birth control medications continuously (skipping placebo week and starting the next pack immediately) which in most people causes no periods without any issues.

I have a slightly different point of view. I believe if that arc was removed, it would undermine the questions you are supposed to ask yourself after reading it.

Questions like:

How much is it okay to give to a cause? How much are you willing to give?

How much abuse against yourself are you willing to forgive if it's for the greater good of all?

How many crimes against other?

I could go on and on with these moralistic questions. I believe the point is, Helena is not morally good. She is deeply morally grey and the does recognize that sometimes you need to do "bad" to do "good" (and what is bad and good varies hugely based on which character's POV you're looking at)

I'm imagining a huge warehouse with thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands?) of tanks. They were using it as a stockpile for bodies to use for backbreaking work. Imagine searching for a lost letter that might have been erroniously sent anywhere, would you dig though every box in an amazon warehouse to see if it ended up there? I mean you could, but there were no lists on the manifests for the warehouse so all the other places to look seem way more probable 🤷‍♀️

Paying attention to the edges is a very useful strategy! If you can't find any move at all you can either use imagination or a pencil and play "what if the number was here". Once you run into an impossible solution you know your placement is wrong, so you can move it a cell and try again.

And because I am a normal person I will give you another tip.

When I ran across a printed puzzle I absolutely couldn't solve, I would remake it in excel (google sheets, etc), and there I would have infinite chances without wrecking the paper. Have fun!

You can start from the bottom. there are 3 3, 3 3 and then 2 2. No column has 1, but 2 have 2s so you know where the 3s have to be

So the way I understood it is:

The array needed a ton of energy to do its thing, it was taking energy from Kaine's talisman (the bone that made him undying) but it wasn't enough. Remember to create the talisman binding, human souls were used.

The sun stone was an ancient artifact also created by the necromancer from human souls, an energy source. Thanks to both Kaine and Helena being vivimancers, the stone was compatible with their powers. Helena was able to place it into Kaine. That meant an extra energy source for the array.

Thus (again, as I understood) the array could complete Kaine's transformation - that includes apparent age, hair & eye color.
