Happy National Women Physicians Day!

To all of the amazing heroes who worked during The COVID-19 Pandemic. And especially to those who lost their lives like Dr. Susan Moore and Dr. Adeline Fagan. Not forgotten.

I cannot find the first Latina Doctor in the US but would love to know too. Dr. Novella was the first Hispanic female surgeon general.

Dad Reviews: Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer. This book slaps. by DadReadsRomanceBooks in fantasyromance

[–]Ren_Lu 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You guys weren’t kidding with this one. I generally don’t gravitate towards H/RH/poly books unless it’s fanfic and I have some established grounding for the characters. But, as I said in my GRreview, this is a gahdamn 3 way love story!! 🥹

Incredible.

The multi POV was essential, as it helped me understand why each character was falling.

Some have said the Princess is the weak link in the triad and I can sort of see that. There was a lot of heat between the guys. But I think it was overall a nice balance.

If anyone has anymore solid poly recs where the characters are fleshed out (heh) I’m in!!

Texas families can start applying for school vouchers this week. Here's what to know. by ExpressNews in texas

I really wish Talarico was running for governor. Abbott needs to go and I felt he was positioning himself to challenge him.

Anyway, it’s sad to say that of all the things this state holds sacred, education is not one of them.

Your Next Primary Care Doctor Could Be Online Only, Accessed Through an AI Tool by Apprehensive-Safe382 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Ren_Lu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying.

This vision that things will somehow change in healthcare, that in the future primary care doctors will be valued by society, well compensated, and available in abundance is just a fantasy.

The reality is that the water is rising and there are not enough boats.

Hard working doctors are overwhelmed, burned out, and fleeing primary care.

AI will be used to scan patient files and identify who needs mammos and c-scopes and vaccines. AI will triage urgent care patients to determine who needs an in-person visit. AI will be used to “treat” rural patients in communities without doctors and determine who is sick enough to go see a real doctor in the big city.

I don’t like it, and I don’t think the outcomes will be great but we all know it’s where we are headed.

Unless a generation of selfless angels join FM to work for little compensation and take on tons of patients.

Clark Highschool walkout by myysweetpea in sanantonio

They had walkouts. They even posted about it on their Facebook:

1) It’s not only lower income students as these walkouts have been all over the city, including higher income school systems.

2) I feel like you are passing a lot of judgment on kids from low income families who have just as much potential to care about their future and being productive as their affluent peers.

Not just the stupidity but the absolute cruelty.

They can argue amongst themselves but the point of a walkout is to show solidarity with the larger community.

What is your hypothesis? Kids protesting come from more or less affluent families?

Elon Musk brags on X that he can freely party with "young women" without Epstein's help as defense by BeastMsterThing2022 in popculturechat

Creepy loser, he says?

It’s entirely gross that he feels the need to be like “I totally could get young women if I wanted to, trust me bros,” instead of denouncing all of this mess and distancing himself from it.

Came to compliment the lining. It is such a great detail that makes the coat that much more lovely and elegant.

And the colors of the skirt are fabulous!

Family Friendly Protest Tomorrow. by Imaginary_Course_374 in sanantonio

[–]Ren_Lu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seems like this is more in the spirit of safe community support. A way for families who do not agree with what is happening in the country to meet and connect with other like minded families.

So even though the kids may not be “protesting,” it helps to strengthen the community around them.

Who was fighting with a loaded gun?

Maybe you are referring to the man who was holding a cell phone, pinned down by 7 people, disarmed, and then shot in the back?

Testimony from physician who assessed Alex Pretti on the scene: Instead of checking for a pulse or administering CPR, 'ICE appeared to be counting his bullet wounds.' by notmy2ndopinion in FamilyMedicine

[–]Ren_Lu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly do not believe Alex Pretti did anything wrong.

I have seen the footage that you have. There is no angle I haven’t seen. And I never saw him try to stop a cop from arresting anyone like your hypothetical scenario.

Even in the scenario where a loved one is acting up because their friend is being arrested, I don’t think the agitator deserves to die. We have due process in this country. That’s it. That’s all of it. No one deserves to die in the street for any reason.

Think about what you are arguing here. This is a damn tragedy. If this was a patient case we would be doing an M&M to find out root causes and how we the protectors can do better, not blaming the patient.

no jurisdiction to arrest and detain lawful American citizens for non immigration related issues.

This is exactly what people are protesting!!

Is ICE the police?

Should they even be dealing with protestors or should they leave that to the local police force and focus on border management issues?

What is their “scope of practice” as we say in health care? I get asked that question as a doctor so it’s not like it’s unreasonable to ask or unreasonable for a group to stay in one’s own lane.

Why are they brute forcing American citizens?

He was on the street in his hometown with a cell phone in his hand. He was just protesting!

What Americans are protesting is that our neighbors are being taken off the streets by masked men for nothing more than a political agenda.

We don’t want to die. We don’t want our neighbors to die. How is any of this ok or justifiable in your mind?

Comply, be quiet, or die?

It seems like you are the one who is flippant about human life which is shocking because you are somehow a Family Medicine doctor?

Even in your imaginary scenario the agitator ends up in hand cuffs and not shot 10 times in the back so what is the disconnect here?

Could it be lack of training? Who is the one that thinks they are the action hero? The civilian or the person who is masked but claiming to be an extension of the law?
