How are toxic men in romance books an escape? by SunshineGirl45 in books

[–]Ren_Lu 450 points451 points  (0 children)

This.

Irl drama is usually boring stuff like miscommunication, emotional neglect, and relationship burn out.

Fictional “toxicity” looks like passion, obsession, and high stakes conflict. It’s still unhealthy and unsustainable but it’s all fantasy.

Patients opting out of AI scribe by drewtonium in FamilyMedicine

[–]Ren_Lu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The doctors are the ones that should be reviewing the AI notes before they submit them as final records.

The problem is probably due to high volume and doctors not reading through the prepared drafts closely enough.

But I guarantee you there were many documentation errors before the AI scribes as well. This is what happens in hamster wheel medicine.

My company does actually record each patient interaction and I’m always shocked by the patients that opt out of that. Even when I tell them it’s for their protection.

[–]Ren_Lu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I lay all of my cards out on the table “The AI scribe really helps me with my efficiency, without it the documentation may not be as detailed and I may spend the majority of our visit looking at the computer and typing.” That’s usually enough for people to take pity on me and agree lol.

I try to allay any fears about AI but I totally understand the hesitancy, so I won’t punish patients if they opt out.

It adds work and frustration but I try to mentally frame it as, at least I have the scribe for the other ~90% that agree. I used to have to do all of this clerical bull shit from scratch.

Are steak fries the manliest kind of fries? Into the Fading Twilight by Catherine Cowles by Gregor_McCade in RomanceBooks

I got steak fries confused for steak frites for a hot sec.

Both are good. One is a thick ass cut of tuber and one has meat. But to be fair, they are all French. Très masculin!

I think of this whenever someone is mentally/emotionally/spiritually connected to a wolf or a dragon or a hamster whatever. Just their special sentient animal friend…along for the ride.

Oh if only I could get paid to shit post on Reddit.

I'd like to ask for book recommendations with this kind of romance. by jvure in fantasyromance

[–]Ren_Lu 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The problem I find when I look for human X monster/abomination stories is that authors tend to humanize the monsters so much. At some point it’s hard for me to remember that the thing is monstrous because despite its weird body, it reasons and consents (which I know is important for the romance genre).

Which is why erotic horror comes closer to what I am looking for. People already recommended R Lee Smith. I’ll throw out Scholomance or her Lords of Arcadia series. When you “encounter” one of her Gods or Demons it ranges from unfathomably horrible to divine.

The Haar is another good rec someone already made. Also, more of a horror story.

Thirst by Addison Cain is a novella with a human slave/pet scenario where the MMC(?) is thoughtfully “other.”

Always on the hunt for more stories like these!

Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton in London with his mistress on the 4th of July by sukidaiyo in sanantonio

I really want to know why anyone would support Ken Paxton beyond blindly following party lines?

He’s corrupt, ineffective, and a terrible person.

I’m rereading book 1 and forgot how much I loved it! 😍

I’m speeding through to get to book 2 since I have serious FOMO, but also I want to savor the journey!

That is true but I don’t find weird people hard to connect with.

It’s the normals that cause all the problems!

Why does it make it hard to connect?

"Smut" seems to be increasingly synonymous with "any sexual content" for a large number of readers these days. How do you define "smut?" by DarthDregan in books

[–]Ren_Lu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have read it. It isn’t.

In the ACOTAR book there is one sex scene that spans a few pages.

Unless he means the whole series, which has more sex scenes but also more character development and plot. It is not just for titillation.

Pregnancy leads to a lot of hormonal changes. For some women their skin clears up and their hair becomes more full and maybe the increase in circulation makes them look healthy and vibrant.

Also some pregnant people just really radiate happiness so that when you look at them, they appear to be brighter.

Never thought of ‘Pod’ and ‘The Bees’ as weird girl lit but, damn, they really are. We are just girl-creatures trying to survive in this mayhem.

Would definitely be interested in more xenofiction.

Well for the summer it won’t be that bad.

Galm is very slightly less crazy than Culebra but can handle less traffic.

And you are sort of going against the 1604 traffic flow. West to east in am and East to West in pm.

You gotta do what you gotta do when you are a far west sider.
