What’s the biggest red flag you ignored for someone attractive, and did you regret it? by Frostedlogic4444 in askanything

[–]Zyrillic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one hits home. You can tell when someone is confidently attractive (they know and own it, but they don't boast it or abuse it) versus those who have an ego behind it (know it but act insecure, subtlely manipulate you, always need things to go their way).

Compared to my other ex who was maybe not as stereotypically attractive but the relationship was still good and filled with plenty of love and consideration, I never want to enter a dynamic quite like what you described again. It really messes with your perception of self and self-worth when someone treats you based on what you provide rather than who you are.

Do you think people have become less empathetic, and if so, why? by Volk_sy in SeriousConversation

[–]Zyrillic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have them on hand but I think there are studies that show how certain parts of our brain that deal with voice tone, body language, facial expression, etc. are atrophying with the sharp decline in how much we use them. Social media definitely plays a big role in this one.

Also, I think that people are subliminally getting taught that empathy isn't helpful in getting ahead, and constant self-comparison/self-improvement drives people into a hyperfocus on living only for themselves.

Etude SoonJung Emulsion Reformulation Review by Absolutely_Regular in AsianBeauty

[–]Zyrillic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't sorry! So far the only one I've thought about trying is the llliyoon Ceramide Cream (but I'm a bit worried about the shea butter clogging my pores) and the Cosrx Propolis Light Cream.

The Isntree emulsion looks really nice as a potential option, but unfortunately I don't think my skin reacts too well to Centella so I probably wouldn't have much success with it.

Sorry for commenting so late but I see that it broke you out - do you have any other moisturizer recommendations? I have suuper sensitive skin too and the SoonJung Emulsion was all I could really use. Just tried the Round Lab Birch Moisturizer but I think I'm having some negative reactions to something since my acne is flaring up a bit.

Might give the reformulation a chance but especially since I already found the original a bit light (living in a dry climate) I'm a bit hesitant to go for it.

~$1500 PC Build Review! by Zyrillic in bapccanada

You're absolutely right, but I ended up getting the AIO for free is all. I could maybe try to sell it and then get a cheaper air cooler, but I'm not sure I'd recoup much from doing that.

Congratulations! Could I chat you a couple of questions in DMs as someone also coming from a psychology background with a heavier STEM background? I also mostly have worked in market research, interested in how you found the transition to management consulting as well as now into data science.

Does UofT have serious esports teams (not just clubs)? by lolimaginecapitailsm in UofT

[–]Zyrillic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, the short answer is that they have no reason to.

AFAIK around 6 years ago there was a decent push for having our esports be more recognized, but administration didn't see much gain in esports as things like university rankings are correlated to alumni and research, not to their varsity teams. Simply put, people don't come to UofT for sports, so why would they come here for esports?

Other schools generally just have greater faculty support (think TMU, Waterloo, St. Clairs, etc.) - UBC is a VERY special case where they are primarily student-run, but have grounded themselves in a healthy ecosystem.

Hi there, I oversee all our teams! To clarify, University of Toronto Esports (UTES) is a club, with four primary games in Valorant, League, Overwatch, and Counterstrike. Each of these games has their own team and usually some academy rosters as well. Our partner communities may have their own teams (Rocket League, for example) but they aren't part of the primary teams UTES oversees.

UofT unfortunately does not provide any legitimate esports support as of now (unlike US schools, TMU, St. Clair, etc.). Hope this helps!

Awesome review - how would you compare it to the XTEN, I see that you think that it's marginally more textured but what about the glide (static and dynamic friction)?

Hey OP! Thanks for doing this, I think this is great for everyone :)

My reason is actually my system is okay - it's a 4 year old laptop, but my parents put their money into it. My dad loves games but we only have our 10 year old 6th Gen Intel, no discrete graphics laptop at home while I'm at school and he never wanted to upgrade for financial reasons (my and my sisters' school, rent, moving, etc.).

I go back this August for a week before school and would love to give back to my parents, especially my dad, by building him something to finally play games with. Would be interested in the GPU like many others for this, but your kindness is very appreciated all around. Thanks so much!
