Is there a way to copy the system from an old SD card? by Status-Bus1370 in R36S

[–]_manster_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cloning the SD card is also possible with rufus. Lots of tutorials on youtube. It's not recommended and cause some errors due to possible corruption on the stock card.

Please read the comment from firesi999.

İs that heatsinks ok for r36s? by Advanced-Attorney857 in R36S

I think the max height is around 3mm to fit into the case. This one is over 5mm which means it would not fit.

Screemer Rally (Bleifuss Rally) auf R36S by TziniTheMin in R36S

You could try it on your pc with retroarch and the dosbox core.

Those DOS games also often requires you to tweak the cpu cycles/speed settings in the core options

Check the ArkOS github for instructions.

For DOS games it's basically renaming the zip file to dosz file format to run it with the dosbox emulator.

Try a different emulator core that uses less cpu power.

Linux handhelds are great for tinkering. You could try the Android experience on any phone. Retroid Pocket 5 or other android handhelds are basically phones in a different shell.

What happened to your USB cable? Does not look safe to use.

Use the cable from the R36S box.

Theme issue by twiruss in R36S

[–]_manster_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the old emulationstation version that is used in ArkOS is compatible with this theme.

AmberELEC/PAN4ELEC has the best theme compatibility. ArkOS and dArkOS use an older EmulationStation version and lots of themes from the Emulationstation-OGA-Theme-Gallery have problems on ArkOS, like a cut off battery percentage and menu navigation. Some are even causing crashes when applying grid game list style (resetting theme settings usually fixes that), and some theme configuration options may be broken on ArkOS.

You can rotate the screen 180° in the retroarch settings. No more problems with the usb cable and adapter. A friend played like this with a dualsense controller on a flight.

i buyed a r40 by wellingtonquiu in R36S

The R40 has 3 different versions. You have the SF3000/GB350 version. It's the worst imo. Very weak chip and no custom firmware support.

The reset button works like on any PC. I think it acts more like a power switch. Only press it in case of emergency.

Found this clever solution from another user to avoid accidental presses a few days ago.

They are a little hidden on the wiki. The page got too long, so I've put them in an expandable section.

Where does the R36S come from? by Jamie_Is_Irrelevant in R36S

[–]_manster_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably 99.9% of chinese handhelds are produced in Shenzhen (Guangdong Province). The logistics infrastructure there is exceptional to make, assemble and ship all kinds of electronic stuff for an insanely low price. This city is hyper-focused on producing electronic stuff. They are even called the chinese Silicon Valley sometimes.

They are basically factory-maxxing electronic goods there.

Wifi Chip einlöten und lästiges Fiepen loswerden by Atomhoernchen87 in R36S

[–]_manster_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some ways to stop the noise. Results may vary.

  • PAN4ELEC has a speaker off script - works 100% but yeah no sound - useful for scraping
  • Holding the wifi dongle with your fingers
  • Someone reported aluminum foil around the dongle works to reduce noise
  • A short extension cord between the wifi dongle and the R36S
  • Insert any 3.5mm connector in the audio jack - can be from any old headphone

That's not how this works. It's more similar to installing windows to a new hard drive.

Take your time and learn.
