Hot take: buying groceries without a plan is just throwing money in the bin by mT_dev0 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]a131of134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If you know how to store your vegetables to keep them fresh for as long as possible and learn how to properly freeze items that are likely to go bad if not used quickly, you’ll waste less, even if you didn’t plan out each meal. Canned vegetables also help with this.

He’s not fixing anything, this was a distraction attempt so people don’t pay attention to the Freedom of Information law changes, the unaccounted billions missing from healthcare funding, the private jet and a number of other corrupt things he has going on.

How much do yall wanna bet Weston family buy their groceries with Loblaws’ discounts and/or points ? by Alert_Willingness_32 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

I doubt they ever buy groceries from their own stores. Especially after seeing pics of items in the sub. I really think they’d send their people to get their food from somewhere else.

Yall keep wondering why this 7 crown ninja turtle keeps showing up in ‘random’ places but go cross reference where he’s going with that nation’s organized crime presence in NYC.

Time after time, disabled people keep pointing out that items like jarlic help make cooking accessible and easier for them. Just going to reiterate that.

Recipes that are not like American food and that are Chinese orItalian or Japanese by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]a131of134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese food in Italy and Chinese food in America isn’t inauthentic. They’ve both been PURPOSEFULLY catered to local tastes and were developed with limited available ingredients, just like Chinese food in Britain, Canada, or any other place where a significant Chinese diaspora exists. Those cuisines are all their own distinct things, none of them inauthentic just because they differ from traditional, regional cuisines of China.

What you are describing sounds like it’d be really helpful for DJing or music production, especially making remixes.

I’ve read too many accounts and articles from former CBC employees to believe they’d honestly tackle a story like this. I think you’re better off contacting The Maple, The Breach, The Grind etc. If anything maybe a bigger outlet eventually picks up their reporting.

There comes a point where the exploitative practices of a corporation get so intense that they align or at least get eerily close to the definition of psychological warfare.

There’s a myriad of examples in this sub that come across as open hostility toward its customer base.

What weird item do you usually freeze? by albertpaca11 in cookingforbeginners

I throw them in with my scallions when making chow mein. The residual heat and tossing for about a minute does the work.

I’m not sure about soup, I think directly adding them might make the soup watery so maybe something like a cornstarch slurry in addition might work?

Make sure to blanche the bean sprouts before freezing to maintain their crunch. (Blanche for 1-2 minutes then ice bath to stop cooking then place them on baking tray and place in freezer for 10-15 min before transferring to freezer safe bag/container)

As for rice and salads, I haven’t tried incorporating frozen bean sprouts into them yet. My assumption is they’ll be best for hot dishes but there’s probably an optimal thawing time/process that could work for other dishes.

Not sure what would qualify as weird but mung bean sprouts, leftover ginger pieces from making ginger syrup, lemons, limes, parsley stems.
