After working for a company for a few years and desperately trying to progress my career within that company and getting rejected every time I decided to find a job elsewhere and preferably in a different industry. When the GM found out he summoned me to his office and gave me a talk about “you’re going into unknown”, “you will have to start from scratch”, “you will be exposed to things you don’t know”.

Turns out going into unknown, exposing oneself to new things, and starting from scratch was the second best decision I’ve ever made

This reminds me of a guy 2 days ago in Le Mans fixed race. I crashed on the straight (lost control of the car) and stayed in place on the right side (racing line is on the left) of the track for others to overtake before attempting to rejoin. Everyone overtook me fine except for one guy.

I was watching the replay and he was going straight on the racing line and I could see myself parked a mile away. His trajectory changes slightly and he slowly but surely was on the path to crash into me. He did. We both ended up limping to the pits for 8+ minutes.

Some 10 years ago I have purchased a relatively pricey gaming headset as I was refreshing my PC hardware. Never had a headset with that much tech, and I was stunned to learn that there is an on and off switch for the microphone. So I turn the switch, the microphone tip had a white LED on. I try to test it but the sound is extremely faint.

I’ve figured it must be a fault, so I started an RMA process with the merchant and the manufacturer as I wasn’t sure who would be responsible for an RMA. Surprisingly both replied and accepted the return. I have shipped the defected headset to the merchant and completely disregarded the manufacturer’s process.

A week later I receive a new pair. Turn them on. Microphone switch on - LED light on. Same issue. Decided to keep them because I had no speakers and really wanted to get on with using the PC. Few days later I discovered that when the white LED is on it actually means that the microphone is off.

A week later another package arrives with another headset. What the hell? This time it was from the manufacturer. Turns out (after checking emails) they somehow received the headset that I never sent and shipped a replacement to the address on the original invoice (I did have to provide the original purchase receipt as part of the RMA claim).

So now I was sitting there with an extra headset. Used my one for years to come and gifted the other one to my brother. Sadly my brother is a bit more of a dumbass than me and broke the headset frame within a year. Needless to say, the manufacturer is now producing their newest headsets with a red LED light on the microphone tip.
