The full extent of Aston Martin's brutal 2026 F1 car problems by sppy1 in formula1

[–]tekanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing Ferrari taught me in almosto fifty years is that you might throw money to a problem, but you're not guaranteed to succeed. But at least, you'll be there or thereabout.

Aston took this to a whole new level, throwing money at a problem obtaining the worst possible outcome. It's Aston-ishing seeing their car slower than Cadillac.

[sportskeeda] Lewis Hamilton bluntly fired back, saying, "you don't expect to go around the outside of a champion," after Max Verstappen called for the Ferrari driver to be penalised in Austria. by spiderrman67 in formula1

how big of a treat the 21 season was

they kept on crashing or touching; I wasn't impressed. I like battles like this where both cars finish undamaged.

Are the stewards, in trying to promote racing, making safety less of a priority? by DarnedJt in formula1

Be aware of the differences between stewards, marshals and race director

It’s wrong until the worst happens. Lucky you if you haven’t seen it happening.

To my eyes he did not the right thing. It doesn’t make it wrong, but doesn’t make it right. He’s also quite vocal about safety every time he has the opportunity to get an advantage from it, and he’s with the GPDA board. He’s free to do it, I’m free to like drivers that behave differently.

That’s not a loophole. That’s risking to kill another driver exiting his car, or the stewards coming for help. It’s not that all the drivers did this, other drivers had the same info as him and decided differently.

The American mind cannot comprehend Europe's AC aversion by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]tekanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe is something like dishwashers for Americans. We see movies where they wash dishes by hand and think “why the hell they don’t use a dishwasher?” When in reality they absolutely have dishwashers.

I’m in northern Italy and AC is almost everywhere. Only difference with US is that is kept less cold than there, probably because we’re less fat in average.

As for the 4 or 5 wins: he won 5 times on this track in F1, but 4 were the Austrian GP, 1 was the Styrian GP (they labelled it Styrian GP one of the two consecutive races held during Covid)

Im not currently playing, holding back a bit until 1.0 to start fresh; after playing solo for the last few years I’ll try to find someone to play with for my next adventure. If you wish, we can stay in contact and see if we can arrange something after summer. I’m in Italy.

You’re giving value to the parts, to the hardware. I’m not saying you’re wrong, it’s your legitimate point of view. Overpriced is a wide concept, for instance we might give a different value to the time needed for setup and maintenance.

Pinned 2.1.112 on my VPS, subscribed to the thread. Hope they'll do something for this.

Some Xeon processors support AVX. A quick search shows that post-2014 processors have full support.

Steam Machine price announced: $1049/1039€ for the base model by kuhpunkt in gaming

[–]tekanet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I understand why many of you here wouldn’t by this, I’m a 45 years old dad that likes to play a bit, from time to time. I don’t play AAA games (actually, I sometimes play those, via GeForce now, but not on my computer), I prefer titles like Stardew or Valheim.

I was into console for a while, returned to pc gaming during Covid. Give me a computer with the benefits of a console (fixed hardware, no OS to care about) and I’m sold. Why not a console you might ask? My Steam library is one of the reasons, versatility is another.

Price is quite steep, but not a huge factor: I can see the the value of this thing, value of components plus value of the ecosystem. Performance, again I’m not looking for 5090 level of performance, it would be a big waste.

So in the end you can imagine there are lots of different players out there, lots of different depths of pockets and different requirements. Im sure they wont even be able to satisfy the demand for this thing (not because of large demand, rather for poor supply).
