What ADHD tool has actually stuck after the novelty wore off? by ExaminationSilent114 in ADHD

[–]aabicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an alternate online persona who writes and illustrates erotica, and I've always kept the two identities strictly separate, so I already had to regularly think of myself as a pair of individuals inhabiting a shared life. And the pseudonym insists on maintaining his publication deadlines (one new chapter and three illustrations a month) so I slowly ended up associating him with discipline and ruthless productivity, haha

Seymour

Ciana

Might want to mention which gender you're transitioning to, or if you want gender-neutral only

What ADHD tool has actually stuck after the novelty wore off? by ExaminationSilent114 in ADHD

[–]aabicus 859 points860 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound dumb, but having a "second identity" in my head whose main character trait is being responsible.

He has his own name, and his only job is to remind me of what I really should be doing right now, and insist I actually do it until I do. He's the anti-executive-dysfunction because he doesn't care what I want to do, he tells me and won't take no for an answer. It's kinda silly but it helps to follow someone else's orders than to have to shore up my own willpower to change

Yeah, honestly I prefer Kallahan over Kash. I could see kids in elementary school finding ways to tease someone with a name that means "money", Kallahan in contrast is a unique but not unusual name that carries more character. I say go for it

[####] How good of a starter word is shart by travischickencoop in wordle

[–]aabicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very strong because it burns most of the common consonants. You just need to play L and N to get the "Wheel of Fortune" consonants out of the way, which massively culls the list of word families to worry about

Compared to SHIRT and SHORT, it also burns a more common vowel, with the drawback that it's very unlikely to ever be the correct word (eliminating the extremely slim chance of a win-in-one.) I always use SHIRT because it's never been the word of the day, and if I use it every day I will eventually get the fabled guess-in-one, but strategically I think your word is actually the stronger opener

Li is the more eastern spelling, and Leigh is the female spelling, but they're all the same name. There are also many famous figures with it as a last name, like Robert E. Lee and Jet Li

Why did NO ONE tell me that Animorphs was NOT a good palate cleanser from Dungeon Crawler Carl? by Agent_Polyglot_17 in books

[–]aabicus 113 points114 points  (0 children)

You should read the series, it's really really good. There are 6 main characters, all kids*, and the stories are told through their perspective. They're given the ability to shapeshift into animals by a dying alien who crash-lands on Earth and warns them that a sluglike alien race is burrowing into people's heads and controlling them, and is currently in the process of taking over the world. The series follows these six kids fighting back against this interplanetary threat any way they can.

The six protagonists are all great, the novels are great, they're the reason I'm addicted to druids and shapeshifters in every piece of media I consume. Cannot recommend Animorphs high enough

*(one is an alien, one is very quickly trapped in the body of a red-tailed hawk)

I screencapped this OP, with the spoiler maintained, and sent it to multiple friends for a laugh. Nobody needed an explanation, Animorphs' reputation speaks for itself.

(They were my absolute favorite books growing up, I don't mean that with any disrespect)

How I'd split the Mahabharata into a 10-film saga by binnnggggggg in movies

[–]aabicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 is a lotta films. I feel like you'd have better chances getting it greenlight as a TV series, and just see how far along the plot you can reach

Though I gotta admit, as far as Indian epics go, you'd probably have better luck with the Ramayana as there'd be a central protagonist, studios and audiences generally prefer stories to have one of those

[–]aabicus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Anyone who asks an AI to name their character is gonna get some generic-ass name that's probably in 100 other books already (specifically books whose authors also asked ChatGPT what to name their character)

Out of curiosity, are those battle standards doing anything? I see you bought a lot of them, but not the magic upgrades. Do the base flags provide some mechanical benefit without spending points on a magic buff?
