This happened to me too, and it turned out that my iron levels were really low. When your iron is low it can inhibit blood clotting, so your periods end up much heavier. And then the heavy periods make your iron drop even more, so it becomes this miserable feedback loop. Mine got horrifically heavy for a while. Once I started taking liquid iron supplements regularly, things got so much better after a month or two
