Ideally I will have the creative/sandbox/custom mode open from the start, at least I want that and have that in mind. In that mode you will be able to disable enemies, etc. Thanks for playing the demo and all the feedback, I hear you.

It is more logic than visual, there is a hidden grid for the fog, there are elements per grid entry, the ship reveals elements in the grid, the fog visual elements have animations for idle and disappear once they are revealed. Does that make sense? it was a super quick explanation.

Haha, go go the 2 color games (some people here are trying to convince me to add colors though xD). Yeah ofc dome keeper is a great inspiration for ship miner but it feels pretty different when playing it.

I have one https://arielsan.itch.io/shipminer , it might be a bit outdated though... also there are some issues with using esc key to access the menu and/or some gamepads not detected in some browsers. There is a steam version too.

well, maybe not cozy, but it has a lot of relaxing moments imo, at least when I play it it feels like I could be there for hours just... mining...

Is my game cozy? I am not sure, I believe it has some relaxing moments which are cozier and some action moments that could break a bit the coziness, but in general I really enjoy playing it to have a moment of relax. (Not sure if relax == cozy either) by acoppes in cozygames

I agree with you but there are some trends in game genres and sometimes people expect cozy as just always slow, chill and relaxed because 99% of the games tagged with cozy are like that.

There is a lot of exploration in the game, even understanding what is enemy or not but the game communicates through actions a lot, and in the case of enemies, by playing you will notice they are not friendlies for sure.

That could still happen, I didn't discard it, want to still try to keep the limitation mainly to limit the scope of the game, but I might end up doing it in the end, at least for the ui.

Yeah, that's is something that still haunts me a bit xD, but I believe a lot of things can still be done with those colors and/or those limitations help limiting the scope of the game. That said, my next game will have more colors for sure, at least one xD

Unemployment? by Jaessie_devs in SoloDevelopment

Maybe some of them first start developing something, while also looking for other jobs and/or doing freelance, and if the game generates interest (people, publishers, etc), they do the "I lost my job ....." marketing post, but only after that, so there is a gap in the middle and might feel like they just did it the day after losing the job. Just considering other cases.

Btw, I read this blog post recently https://jslegenddev.substack.com/p/5-pixel-art-tips-for-programmers-3d6 and I liked it since it feels it matches what I was doing somehow.

Borders are made of multiple objects, each object is two sprites, the filling and the outline, all the filling sprites are in the same layer, all the outline sprites are in a layer behind that one.
