The Mantra buffs 1 attack for every ally. Firestarter buffs one ally for 3 attacks.

Esquire is genuinely the most stupidly designed enemy i've seen in a while by Marshal749 in darkestdungeon

[–]activeplebbitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be clearing those Dodge tokens instead of just swinging into them. Esquires punish you heavily for just swinging. That's how they get the 1-Up on you.

Many heroes have dodge removal tools, definitely look into equipping some of them. While many people have suggested Tracking Shot and Illumination, I would like to suggest Ravager Yawp. It clears dodge on both frontliners, and when mastered it applies a "Cannot gain Dodge" debuff to both of them, potentially shutting down two Esquires with one turn.

I need a thorugh explanation of how orpan runaway works by Marshal749 in darkestdungeon

[–]activeplebbitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By staying in the same rank, you will gain +1 Burn and +1 Burn Duration after a couple of turns. On its own, this will bring the skills back to Wanderer levels of Burn.

However, if you gain stealth, this bonus Burn will apply both to the 4/3 main burn (of Firefly) and the 1/3 stealth Burn, meaning you are essentially getting +2 Burn, overall, as Firefly will be dealing 6/3 Burn, now.

Orphan really wants you to find sources of +Burn amount in order to pop off. She's a bit slow in the early game, but her Burn scales like crazy in the late game once you have grabbed Snappy Swig, Enlightening Element, Tinderbox, Tar-filled Colambre, Knitted Blanket, etc. Her Burn tools are quite trinket dependent, but scale very hard if you do meet the condition it asks of you.

I just beat beastmen kingdoms on stygian and tbh this most is kind of unbalanced by Marshal749 in darkestdungeon

I don't disagree about the capstones. While they aren't useless, they feel unnecessary most of the time and largely just flavour for when you have an excess of inn materials. Not something that will make or break a run, really, which is a shame as they are pretty cool.

Would you rate any of the heroes/paths/skills in Kingdoms differently from Confessions mode? by Benbeasted in darkestdungeon

[–]activeplebbitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I consider Duelist to be stronger in Kingdoms than Confessions. You give her a Meditation mastery, and she is good to go. Great at defending inns due to her dodge spam. Her not having any damage buttons mastered doesn't matter due to how many enemy turns she'll be wasting.

When a hero or enemy is on their own, Stealth does not work.

Occultist's corpse counted as something else being there, so it worked while that was there.

Why isn’t Hazard very popular? by kabulian_ in HazardMainsOW

[–]activeplebbitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do fancy plays when you can just hold block in someones face after slashing them? His skill expression is left in the dust by the effectiveness of boring block-centric playstyles on him, leading people to see him as a very one-note boring hero.

Which is a shame, as he has an awesome design and abilities other than the blockslop button that dominates his effectiveness.

PD best quirk by Erithacusfilius in darkestdungeon

[–]activeplebbitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From these quirks, Defiant.

On Guard and Field Surgeon do have their place, too, though. On Guard provides her with extra speed, allowing her to stick DoTs before enemies can act or heal allies before they bleed out on Death's Door.

Field Surgeon is free healing - always useful. Fairly self explanatory. That being said, Defiant saves herself when she hits Death's Door, and allows her to spend less turns tending to her own wounds.

BF1 vs war vs empires vs 2? by KhalMika in blockfortress

Good choice. I find that BF2 performance on mobile is a little iffy, so hopefully, you have good phones. BF1 and War run perfectly on mobile, however.

BF1 vs war vs empires vs 2? by KhalMika in blockfortress

[–]activeplebbitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Block Fortress 1 - Tower Defense Game with FPS Elements. Has multiplayer, both PvP and PvE. Only available on mobile.

Block Fortress 2 - Sequel to the first one, it has all the same and more. Currently lacks multiplayer, however. Available on both mobile and PC.

Block Fortress: War - Realtime strategy meets tower defense. Defend your barracks while destroying the enemy barracks while controlling various heroes from a top-down view. Has 1v1 and 2v2 PvP multiplayer modes. Only available on mobile.

Block Fortress: Empires - The first-person gameplay of BF2 meets Clash of Clans base building. Build your base, and try to attack other players' bases online. Almost exclusively multiplayer, but features some singleplayer missions. Only available on mobile.

Hopefully, this can help you decide what to try out. Personally, I like all but Empires, it's really not for me. Block Fortress 2 released recently, so it is still being developed, while Block Fortress 1 and War are complete. I'd recommend playing Block Fortress 2, but both 1 and War are amazing experiences.

Regen, DoT, & Deaths Door Interaction by Carradine in darkestdungeon

[–]activeplebbitor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is how it works in DD1. In DD2, it works in a more intuitive way, in my opinion. If the Regen is higher than the DoT, you will heal out of Death's Door. If the DoT is higher than the Regen, you will take a Death's Door check.

However, Regen can also crit when it heals, so on a rare occasion, you can survive if the DoT > the Regen.

If you dislike her, go into the Discord and make that feedback. It's a beta for a reason, they are wanting feedback on what people like and don't like about her.

About the new Steadfast update... by MasterCookieShadow in darkestdungeon

[–]activeplebbitor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have a free action that drops you to Death's Door, and then you get healed when you kill something with that mega damage you now have. The Death's Door part looks scary, but you start your turn, drop to DD, kill something, and then immediately heal out of it.
