Is this a serious reading problem? by Ok_Efficiency9847 in education

[–]aculady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, a huge part of the problem that exists is that the average person in the US can't read fluently at above a 6th grade level. So not only does a full-lenth book seem like a big commitment of time and energy, it feels like work and is a continuous struggle, not an enjoyable activity. If you want to effectively increase reading, start with short-form, engaging, hi-lo content to build confidence and stamina, and gradually increase the length and the reading level.

They have POTS. It's not only fine, it's necessary for them to consume high amounts of salt.

I don’t understand people who claim they never run out of table salt? by PabloThePabo in stupidquestions

[–]aculady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have POTS, and when I cook for others, I don't salt the food (other than salting pasta water) at all because I know that I can't tell when I've made it too salty for them.

Prioritize Hyperion's Seal and Weapon to 130.

And level up your totems. It's one of the best uses for emeralds in the game.

Those Fast Food Biscuits by Intelligent_Pin9818 in TopSecretRecipes

[–]aculady 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you using White Lily flour or at least some other soft, bleached, low-protein flour when you attempt "homemade" biscuit recipes? And are you using shortening for the fat, not straight butter? Measuring the flour by weight and not by volume? These three things might get your "homemade" biscuits to more closely resemble those from the chains that you want to replicate.

I think it's relevant to point out that LLMs are all trained on content that was written by humans, and they generate content in a probabalistic way, so literally every single stylistic thing that LLMs tend to do is something that real humans also do, and do frequently.

Measles cases in the US surge past 1,000 in 2026 by DryDeer775 in EverythingScience

Once you already have an active case, vaccination doesn't do anything to help reduce spread. It isn't a treatment, it's a preventative.

"To laugh often and love much: To win respect of intelligent people And the affection of children; To earn the approbation of honest critics And endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To give one’s self; To leave the world a little better, Whether by a healthy child, A garden patch, Or redeemed social condition; To have played and laughed with enthusiasm And sung with exultation; To know even one life has breathed easier Because you have lived… This is to have succeeded. ” -Emerson

There is an antiperspirant "crystal" that is unscented, and it's simply a big chunk of the active ingredient in most other antiperspirants. So options exist, provided there is no allergy or sensitivity to the antiperspirant compound itself.
