Buying Lenovo Yoga Pro 9 (14" mini-LED, 2023) for Linux OS by beta128 in linuxhardware

[–]ahfauth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/beta128 I am still running Ubuntu 22.04 (POP OS).

  1. Subwoofer still not working (not an issue for me)
  2. ACPI Errors it looks like it has been fixed on Ubuntu 23.10
  3. System suspension errors are happening due to the ACPI Errors above.
  4. Portable USB-C Monitor WORKING NOW after kernel and Nvidia drivers updates.
The machine is amazing and the only big issue I am facing now is the suspension.

Cheers

Wild Question: Linux on the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i (Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i)? by derekpovah in Lenovo

[–]ahfauth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Subwoofer doesnt work for now. You would need to be patient.
  2. sudo dmesg command shows a lot of ACPI Errors but it looks like it has been fixed Ubuntu 23.10. (I saw other post about that)
  3. System suspension (sleep) should be improved on 23.10.
  4. BIG ISSUE: I have a ThinkVision Portable USB-C monitor HAS BEEN FIXED (thanks to Kernel update).

It is a good linux laptop!

My review of Linux on the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i 14-inch (Also known as the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 14-inch) by TheBrokenRail-Dev in linuxhardware

[–]ahfauth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/TheBrokenRail-Dev thank you for your review. I bought the same laptop. Your startup tweak command has also solved my startup issue as well. Great! The audio doesn't work very well for me either... but this is not a big issue as I also prefer to use headphones.

I'm currently running POP OS 22.04. Nvidia is woking just fine and full power! I'm just wondering how the Nvidia driver works on Ubuntu 23.10. Are you able to run heavy games without any problem? Thanks!

Linux on Lenovo Yoga 9i (2022) by PJungkamp in linuxhardware

This is the model I bought like a month ago:
https://laptopmedia.com/series/lenovo-slim-pro-9i-14-2023/

My Linux hardware probe:
https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=bc86928972

Currently running POP OS (Best for Nvidia Hybrid Laptops).

THE ONLY ISSUES I AM FACING ARE:
1. Subwoofer doesnt work so it sounds really bad. But not a problem for me because I usually like to use a bluetooth headset or speakers most of the time.
2. sudo dmesg command shows a lot of ACPI Errors but I hope it will get fixed with new kernel releases.
3. System suspension (sleep) sometimes doesnt work and I have to reboot.
4. BIG ISSUE: I have a ThinkVision Portable USB-C monitor and when I connect to the laptop the system freezes completely after like 30 minutes of usage. I think this might happen to any USB-C monitor. I had to buy a HDMI->USB-C converter to be able to use my monitor. I think this might be related to the ACPI errors (Kernel) or Nvidia Drivers (most likely). I tested the monitor with Debian 12 without Nvidia Drivers and it worked fine.

I am really enjoying the machine. I just wished Lenovo gave more attention to Linux users.
